Released this year. It's like a cross between Saint Etienne and Neko Case. Might be my #2 album of 2006 behind Goldfrapp.

That's not even the best song on the album. That would be "If Looks Could Kill".

Everything pretty much. lol

Eight hours of b-sides, live versions and remixes. Supa now has everything I have other than the studio albums and box sets.

I posted the art for the four disc b-sides box awhile back. I'll post it again tomorrow with the art for the live b-sides 2CD and remixes 2CD.

Back to Camera Obscura, here's a live performance of "If Looks Could Kill" also from the album: http://www.youtube.com/wa...RkrJlvm0Y0

It's very rough and doesn't do the song justice though. The album version is quite perfect I think. smile

I checked out Underachievers Please Try Harder a few weeks ago to see what this band is about.

While there's something quirky I do like about the group, their music just doesn't grab me. I'd always rather hear Saint Etienne or the Smiths.

I haven't heard that album so I can't comment on it. Sometimes I don't want to hear the dance beats of Saint Etienne. That to me is the big difference between them and Camera Obscura.

Yeah, Saint Etienne is definitely dancier. Not that I'm a clubby type, but I can wrap around their stuff easier.

This may sound bizarre, but there's something "claustrophobic" about Camera Obscura. One the one hand they're quaint, retro and interesting; on the other, they make me want to "escape" their strange world. Kind of the same discomfort I feel when I watch Napoleon Dynamite. lol

I can understand that. I feel the same way when I listen to Death In June. Their music is uncomfortably creepy. It's like a cold dismal day in Germany before WWII.

I notice a lot of flourish about Neko Case but has anybody ever heard of Maria McKee? I have had a love affair with that woman for 22 years now lol From what I've heard of Neko Case, Maria holds her own and then some. I'm just sad she doesn't have more of a following.

Where should I post them? I don't think Tori pix would be right on a Camera Obscura thread.
