for some reason i always get their new albums when they come out. then i listen a few times, don't like, then sell 'em back to the wrecka stow. i guess i keep waiting for the next big brilliant rocked-out thing by them.

If you don't have it already, then you should get The Passengers (It's U2, kinda like Camille is Prince). It's along the same lines as Zooropa- not as quirky or fun but a little darker and all over the place.

IT FUNNY

WAR RIPOFF OF JOY DIVISION

EVERYONE LOVE IT

POP RIPOFF OF NEW ORDER

EVERYONE HATE IT!

the monkey is off his rocker tonight. i love me some new order and i've never once thought of them while listening to pop. the same for war and joy division.

I can't really see the comparisons with Pop, but U2's first 3 albums definitely used Joy Division's sound as a template. nod

um...silly monkey. america had already fallen in love with bono by this time. the time magazine cover was in 1987 and joshua tree (and the tour that was documented in rattle and hum) was already a huge success. there were a few hits off that record...with or without you, where the streets have no name, i still haven't found what i'm looking for...perhaps you've heard of them? lol

I'd say that Boy and October have more in common with Joy Division than War. However, I don't hear much New Order in Pop. To me, Pop just sounds like U2 with some techno elements. I've never heard New Order do a song like 'Mofo' or 'Wake Up Dead Man', and, for the most part, the other songs are pretty much classicist U2.
