Either the Unforgettable Fire or the Joshua Tree.

Joshua is more consistent overall, but Unforgettable contains some of the best songs they've ever written.

Their earlier albums are worthwhile as well, especially Boy and War.

I always felt they lost the plot somewhat in the nineties, but at least they were doing their own thing.

Now they're just one big cliche. The fact that their last two albums are seen by many as a "return to form" is rather sad.

Regarding Pop, even if I don't love it that much, I have to recognise it's the last album where U2 tried to do/say something new and pushing their bonduaries forward.

If you don't have it already, then you should get The Passengers (It's U2, kinda like Camille is Prince). It's along the same lines as Zooropa- not as quirky or fun but a little darker and all over the place.

I gave Pop another try a few days ago and found it surprisingly tolerable. Not so great songwriting, but the mood was there

Achtung Baby os an amazing collection of songs, and has a cool sound, but The Joshua Tree gets my vote. To me those songs just have more depth.
