There was always something about Aaliyah that seemed special. She didn't have a great, powerful voice but it was sweet & seemed honest somehow.

I just saw the Vh1 special about her, Biggie, and Selena, and for all, my tears just came streaming down my face.

It's true about Aaliyah, and it's true about her music and voice. I think she touched a spot that no one touched before and that's why she meant so much to her fans. Aaliyah was like the last person we would think such a tragedy like this would happen to, and it saddened us to experience the death of a such a sweet young soul with a guiding light that was leading her towards greater achievments just dim down on us. I still won't forget how she grabbed us with her first song, "Back and forth". There was no way anyone could dislike her because she did exude a charm and a sincerity in her voice and persona that was transpired through her music. Despite what I said about her voice before, when I heard her sing 'Try again' there was something there that was just beyond her voice and music that made her the princess and angel that she will always be remembered as.

The Hip hop community will always remember those mentioned above because they made a strong impact in our small, but 'big' worlds.

Rest in Peace Aaliyah. I will be a forever fan.

PEACE.

Some of ya'll folks are DEAD WORNG about the sistah. 4 those who said she didn't have a great voice, I suggest you 2 take a listen at:

No you just have an opinion that is different than most people about her voice.

-Street thang-R.Kelly said in a chat interview that Aaliyah is the BEST artist he produced 4 and she pre4med his music in the most perfect ways, just like the way he wanted to. And he mentioned this song as an example.

Its not like R. Kelly was exactly objective considering his past relationship with her.

Take a listen at these songs and I DARE YA to say she don't have a great voice. Say she don't have a STRONG or FUNKY voice then I won't have problem wit you but saying she don't have a GREAT voice?? eek Then I suggest you to clean your DEF ears cuz they're sho nuff full with durt.

Newsflash; she didnt have a great voice. A great voice would be a strong one too, wouldn't it? Yes. Youre probably emotional because it's the 1 year anniversary of her death, but I didnt see anyone say anything bad about her in this thread. It's not a criticism of the person Aaliyah to say she did not have a great voice. Her voice was good enough to achieve what she did.

Hell, what you said is yo opinion too rolleyes!

And NEWSFLASH, Babygirl is the only celep I cried 4 even tho I'm a Biggie/TLC(and esp Lisa)'s HARDCORE fan and yet I didn't feel suddened by their death!

Another note to add, Aaliyah did many lead and back vocals on many of her songs, so not only was there some truthfulness to her voice and sound, but there was also a special gift behind it.

She will always be missed.

Here's ***** stars for her, and much more heart

Peace, wink

She didnt over sing.. thats what made her special in my eyes. No wailing, no flailing. She did what the songs called for.

She was also a great dancer. now i hate dance routines.. always have, but just watch in the vid, oh whats the song called, "try again"?, she just moves so well.. far better than the "real" dancers alongside her.

Never bought her stuff tho, never will, cos of the male "rap" bits.. totally kills the magic for me.

Boyz II Men's rendition of Christopher Cross' song "Think of Laura" called "The Aaliyah Song" is the most touching song I heard in a long time.

you know when i responded to this thread a while back i was hoping to connect with people who felt the same. her voice was smooth she wasn't a lound singer she was a very fluid dancer and an all around lady. I bet if she was responding about someone who past she would not have said they have no talent or just out and out dogged them. watch what you say someone might feel the same way about you.
