can we make a petition to reunite original commodores milan williams is dead
it would be a very sad thing if lionel ,roland, wiliam, walter, thomas dont reunite while they still have a chance to do it. they can do one farewell tour make a dvd a finish as a legends as they realy are. cream reunited after almost 40 years so why commodores dont reunite? can we make a petition and send to lionels record label. i mean it would bring more intersten then it is in lionel today.

The least they could do is reunite on one of the thousands of music award shows they have every six months. They could sing all their hit songs and bring the BRICK House down!it would be a very sad thing if lionel ,roland, wiliam, walter, thomas dont reunite while they still have a chance to do it. they can do one farewell tour make a dvd a finish as a legends as they realy are. cream reunited after almost 40 years so why commodores dont reunite? can we make a petition and send to lionels record label. i mean it would bring more intersten then it is in lionel today.

Lionel was on BET last week and said his biggest regret of his life was that the Commodores never did a final farewell tour. He said that he wants to do it and that the other members are cool now since the passing of Milan Williams.
I was excited to hear him say it, but he looked at the camera and asked them to call him so it could be done...(???). If everything is cool, then why would he ask them to call him? I really hope it goes down because it's long overdue.

I am so pissed that there hasn't been a Commodores reunion by now.Other legendary bands like the Eagles,Fleetwood Mac,Earth Wind and Fire, etc were smart enough to put aside their differences and reunite.I think the Commodores wanted to do it,but Lionel was too focused on his solo career, releasing one flop album after another.I remember in 2000,he was the opening act for Tina Turner! That's a shame. If he and The Commodores had been on their own reunion tour, they would have been selling out arenas all over the world (instead of being the opening act for another artist). The Commodores are a legendary,well-respected band with alot of classics to their name.A reunion make sense.

Nothing personal. Do the math. Lionel's solo career is much more lucrative than his Commodores legacy. He's the chief money earner and the band is an expense; not business partners. The new single, "I Call It Love", is doing good and topped the Adult r&b chart. Right now, a Commodores reunion just doesnt make any business sense.
As a sidebar, I've been humming "Penny Lover" a lot and verses from James Taylor's "Handy Man" keep popping up. test

I disagree.I think a Commodores reunion tour could be lucrative for all involved.EW&F routinely sellout large arenas, and there is no reason why The Commodores featuring Lionel Richie can't do the same. And besides,Lionel is already filthy rich.He doesn't have to do it solely for the money.Do a successful reunion for one year, then he can go back to his solo career.

I don't think they'll get rid of J.D..I'm sure he would peform with them. I'm sure it'll happen. Lionel hasn't been playing or selling out arenas and The Commodres have been playing Vegas and college shows over the years..it has to happen.

People associate Lionel Richie with The Commodores, so it wouldn't be a slight against J.D. Nicholas at all. J.D. simply would take Milan Williams' spot in the lineup and sing the co-lead on "Night Shift." [Edited 10/4/06 17:22pm] THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. actually, the Commadores are appearing in select cities during Lionel's current tour. Go to a Lionel show, and you're liable to see them... "Pedro offers you his protection."

In fact, lionel gave him support and advice when he joined the commodores. Don't laugh at my funk

I didn't say it wouldn't be lucrative. I'm saying there's less gain for Richie as a business endeavor. That 1 yr window sounds like a fundraiser for the guys who aren't doing too well and exploits the fanbase. Personally, I have no interest in a reunion tour for the sake of a reunion. If there's some new purpose to new material and the band will be continuing from that point on, then it's all fine. Otherwise, thanks for the memories. Also, there's really no comparison to EW&F because no one in that group had a solo career at the level that Lionel enjoyed. test

I don't see a reunion tour as "exploiting the fanbase".Most of their longtime fans have been dying for something like this.Even Lionel laments the fact that they never got the chance to do a farewell tour. The way I see it,neither the Commodores or Lionel are having much success these days (despite what many people think,Lionel's latest CD really isn't the great big "comeback" that some hoped it would be).A reunion tour and possible album is a no-brainer. Q: Reunions always make a lot of news. Any plans for a Commodore reunion?
lionel A: If I had one basic thing to change in my whole life story, there would be a Commodore reunion — a Commodore tour, a farewell tour at least. That’s the only thing that we missed out on in this whole story. On (my) tour coming up — its going to be a big tour coming up — somewhere in the middle of this tour we are going to surprise a few people and show up with the Commodores, just to set the groundwork for something that may come in the future.
