No remorse whatsoever it seems His book "Taking My Back Name"(something to that affect) made waves when it was published. True to his credit, the movie was bullshitting in alot of ways. Both aknowledged that the rape incident neva happend, so was the Ritz gun confrontation(in fact, they neva met after they got the divorce). Angela sunk her teeth into that role but there was ALOT of bullshit floating around in order to sansualize the story. I suggest everybody to pick Tina's auotbio for more truthful resource. The movie painted her as this "ideal mother" when all she did was pack her bags and run to Europe and left her kids to her mother, the nanny and Ike(she herself admitted that). One more thing, there's no JACKIE(The Ikette who introduced Tina to Buddhism). It was a white woman(4got her name) who took Tina in and introduced her to Buddhism. Another form of sansualizing and manipulating the truth. Once again, go back to the book. Far more intersting than the movie, I might say.

Outside of the performances (which were fierce), I think the movie as a whole was flawed. My biggest issue was that it painted Ike and Tina with such broad strokes of characterization that Ike became nothing more than a controlling asshole and Tina was nothing more than a victim up until the last scene where she suddenly gains control of everything. There was nothing on screen that showed what drew them to one another.

Sounds kind of like rape to me. The stuff in her book is worst than what was in the movie so don't try to make Ike look like a victim. If you want to read about Ike getting his ass beaten read Elain Brown's book about her Black Panther days's. Huey Newton whipped Ike's ass.

However, True; there were scenes that were deleted for being to disturbing(burning her with cigar, beating her with shoes and drowning her head into the swimming pool). But NEVER did I imply a defence for Ike's favor. Don't ever get it twisted again, not with me. [Edited 9/26/06 12:28pm]

Why stop now? Everything in Lady Sings The Bluse is bullshit(minus the rape and the drug). But Louis McKay(Billy Dee's character) The supposedly white band-leader who introduced her to drugs. Her supposedly naive mother. And her COMPLETE ignorance of her music making. Her image(which people tend to get fooled by, alot sadly) Alot of baggage stacked with old dry bullshit. Hollywood has a filled history of throwing cheese, butter and cream into the mix when it comes to bio-pix.

Tina Turner's voice is out of this planet. So much passion, so much expression. She always sings as if it was do or die. Make no mistake - she's the best commerically releasedfemale soul shouter in the world.
He too, said that I was as sweet as honey, cause I'm 34, 38 and 22 at the tonky. They call me sweet Rhode Island red... Don't give your love to sexy Ida..tralala...cuz she's a sister of a black widow spidaaaah... You know you're funkier than than a mosquito's tweeter... I'm not mad at you, I'm mad at the dirt.

Your acting like Hollywood never does this when they do a bio-pic. The movie can't be 20 hours long so things are going to get changed and left out. Your post comes off as if this is a great horror that Ike was made to look worst than he was in real life. When in fact loads of horrible things he did were left out. It could have been worst and his dumb ass took a small sum of 50,000.00 dollars to allow himself to be protrayed in the movie. He could have stopped the whole project if he had half a brain.

It happens all the time and Ike was the one who complained about only getting 50k for giving up his rights. Not sure if you can do anything about a book outside of suing after the book is out.
