"I never got into Rev Run's MTV reality series Run's House. As much as I enjoyed staring at his daughters' boobs, the shit was way too sappy for my liking. Plus I found their accents grating. | |

We need some "sappy" to balance out some of the bullshit | |

We need some "sappy" to balance out some of the bullshit no we don't. That show was so contrived; it's unwatchable. | |

Ohhhhh, What difficult news. I pray for the family. And I see some serious litigation going on behind closed doors. This should have been caught by doctors.
But Rev. Run et al could actually use this tragedy to bless us with an amazing ministerial moment. Life throws MAJOR curveballs sometimes, and amid the whimsy, we must be grounded enough -- emotionally, spiritually, etc. -- to deal with it. He could truly give us insight into the importance of maintaining faith, family and friends, dealing with loss, fortifying our health inside and out, ensuring sound healthcare, etc. If Run and MTV are candid and sophisticated enough (and assuming the show is still going on), this could be the most real real-life show the network has ever had, and viewers could learn tremendously from it. A rapper's wife gave birth Thursday, but the scene quickly turned to tragedy after their newborn girl was pronounced dead. Rev Run, a.k.a. Joseph Simmons, shocked fans last year when he announced that his wife Justine was pregnant on his MTV reality show "Run's House." Justine's pregnancy was the cliffhanger on the MTV show last season. It generated intense interest among viewers who have been anxiously following the pregnancy and awaiting the birth. I feel bad for the family's tragedy, but honestly, isn't that last bit overstating things a bit much? "I don't need your forgiveness, cos I've been saved by Jesus, so fuck you." | |

----- at 17:03 on September 27, 2006, EST. RIDGEWOOD, N.J. (AP) - A daughter born to rap pioneer Joseph (Rev. Run) Simmons and his wife, Justine, died shortly after delivery last week, an MTV spokesman said Wednesday. Simmons issued a statement through the network, which airs his reality show, "Run's House," saying his wife "is doing fine." He thanked his supporters for their prayers and condolences. "On Sept. 26, 2006, Victoria Anne Simmons for some unknown reason chose to come early and unfortunately did not survive," his statement said. "We must accept whatever is there and once you accept unconditionally, then everything is beautiful. Every pain has a purifying effect. So whatever comes your way, just be thankful. We see life in death and believe in the celebration of life in death." The baby was delivered at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, according to MTV spokesman Graham James. Simmons, brother of hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons, has five children. He was a founding member of pioneering rap group Run-DMC. ©The Canadian Press, 2006 I don't believe this statement is true. Vanessa made a statement saying that the family hadn't made ANY public statements yet. She did, however, mention that they family was going through a rough time, so I guess that's sort of a confirmation. Sad news Smooches;) | |

Not sure where I invoked God, so I'll consider that whole diatribe merely... quaint. God aside, faith that things can and will be brighter again is important to parents who've just lost a child. God back in, I'm sure someone with the title R-e-v-e-r-e-n-d would attribute the efficacy of that faith to God. The show's about him, not you or me, so I'd expect we'll hear his message on his terms.
