EXCLUSIVE George and Andrew play reunion gig at Wembley

WHAM! are to reform 20 years after they split.

George Michael, 43, has persuaded exbandmate Andrew Ridgeley to reunite for a Christmas concert at London's Wembley Arena.

They will be joined by their backing singers Pepsi and Shirlie to make it the pop event of the year. Despite George's recent problems - last week he was cautioned for possession of cannabis after being found again slumped asleep at the wheel of his car - he has been determined to persuade Andrew, also 43, to team up with him again.

A friend revealed: "George is thrilled that Andrew's agreed to perform. It was something George had thought about for a long time. He couldn't be happier and can't wait for the gig."

Pop superstar George began his first tour in more than 15 years in Barcelona last month. Critics hailed his return to live performing, with one reviewer noting that although George's "trademark stubble is now greying, he still has one of the finest voices in British pop".

George and Andrew, pictured far left as he is now, first met at Bushey Meads School in Hertfordshire, formed Wham! in 1981 and had 10 Top Ten hits in four years. They became the first Western pop act to tour China, but split in 1986 following a legendary farewell show called The Final at Wembley Stadium.

I just saw their "Young Guns" video the other day cheesy,but fun to watch

Weird! I never thought I'd see the day, especially after George worked so hard all those years to distance himself from the poppy, bubblegum image of Wham!.

i think it makes sense ... he is so talented ... but ... the name "george michael " just reverberates laughter to alot of people ....

Does AndrewRidgely still post here? His posts were classic.

I don't think reuniting with Andrew under the Wham! banner will do much to stop that. It's a real shame, as George is so incredibly talented, but his antics keep overshadowing that. My wife gives me all sorts of shit every time GM gets into trouble! I'm sure other GM fans are experiencing the same thing.

but the "general public" ... are like sheep sometimes ...its kinda like Prince when he was "the symbol" ... and now that he is Prince again ... all of a sudden he is somewhat cool ....

i dont think George will ever be cool ... but ... with "wham" ... at least he would get some publicity etc ... and that initial publicity would let him get his "word/voice/music" out there .... of course .. he needs a good publicist too .. . probably ... i mean ... prince did have londell ....

Lemme see - Wham reunion - HOORAY! Trouble is, Andrew's guitar was never plugged in and no one gave a shit about the backing singers. But me and Mrs Shifter will be there because about the only thing we agree on is George Michael.

George thinks those songs are masterpieces. I mean, yeah george, some of it is good, most of those songs were just then contemporary pop.


If george michael never made it as a solo star, those songs would be as hated as those SAW songs.

"wham rap" has a fuckin' funny video though.
