Been listening to the album for the last few days. Short, but pretty damned good ("DO I" especially). LOVE her voice. Maybe real music IS on the rise. You just have to look for it.

I will have to see how I can get this. So far only one available on ebay. I suppose I can't just go to the next store and pick this up.

Glad you like it! I hope she gets some recognition and adds some gigs in Europe, too.

I'm trying to be more open to new music (since my hate turned love of Van Hunt has shown me how completely full of shit I can be ) - from song 3 on I'm kinda diggin her, sounds like something that can definitely grow on me. Thanks for the tip, I may check her album out

Everyone digs my find! Last time I posted about someone new, no one wanted to hear about it. Though I cannot really remember who that was again...

Thanks much for the tip!
I'm quite intrigued by what I've heard so far. I tend to lean towards artists that really love music, not just some narrow version of it. And she seems to flow freely all over the place. Thanks again!

If she's opening she'll probably be on for only 30 minutes & I'm not digging Citizen Cope enough to check it out. I'll wait until she does a smaller venue on her own so it's a longer show & worth paying for

Thanks again! http://music.aol.com/blac...1109990001 BV: The song 'Do I' has a very Neo-Soul sound, where other songs on the album are the complete opposite; 'New Religion' sounds like a Country song. Are you taking risks producing music that's so eclectic? AS: I've had a couple of people in the music business tell me stuff like, 'You should be careful, people need something to hold onto. People want one thing they can identify you as.' But I'm like, 'Why?' I don't think it's true. I don't think anybody is one way. It's just music. This other guy told me: 'You need to be careful, what's the common thread [in your music]?' [I said] 'Uh... Me?' I think people get treated like they can't handle it. 'Oh, you're black and you sing this? How are you gonna get to black radio? This is too eclectic for black people.' You know, offensive s#%t! That's rude. What are you really talking about? Are you saying that people are stupid? That's how it feels to me. I have nothing against [record] labels at all, but some people at the labels don't give people an honest chance, and trust that people can understand music. Why can't my signature sound be, 'Alice sings whatever...'?

OH, THE IRONY!!!
Alright, I may have to check the show out after all: I posted a thread earlier on the song I've had on repeat all day, "Sideways" by Santana featuring Citizen Cope I didn't even bother to look initially b/c I knew he had a slew of folks on this album so I never tripped. But I was making sure it was on all the playlists I wanted it on & I happened to look FUNNY!!

Exactly the kind of shit I love. Great voice, adventurous music and genuine in a world full of plastic shit. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740
