The First excerpt is from an article in Q magazine printed in 1993 and it discusses TTD's feelings about Prince. The second is from an Article in Q magazine summer 2001. D'Arby infers something about Michael Jackson and his hand in the failure of his second album. If M. J. did this I have completely lost the last ounce of respect I had for him. Record company racism? Article one
We discuss music further. He talks about Prince, without drawing breath, for half an hour. D'Arby says the first time he heard Prince's music, he felt an inexplicable connection with it. He met him and Prince "talked his ass off, nothing like you'd expect" and told him he was a poet. D'Arby kissed him on the mouth. They speak on the telephone from time to time ("although there's still very much this big brother, little brother vibe"). He's very wary of repeating verbatim any conversations they have had as "he is a man who has assiduously avoided the big-mouthed mistakes I made and I don't want to blow it for him." He winds up his Princeathon simply and touchingly, saying, "I love him. I really do."

Article 2
Between the making of my first and second albums, the people at Sony changed. I was in a similar situation to George Michael, where the people who had signed me were understanding of my music, but the new people seemed to think they should tell me what to do as an artist. There was another situation too, in that the label's major breadwinner, who can't be named at this time, made it clear if my second album [Neither Fish Nor Flesh] was promoted, he'd take his business elsewhere.
My first album, in 1987, sold 13 million copies but, just two years later, the second one sold only 1.5 million, which is all I need to say about that situation.

I lost any respect I had to MJ years ago. As I've said here before MJ is a whiny baby who can't stand it if anyone is more popular than he is. TTD has real talent and a beautiful voice. It's a shame he has not put out more music or had his record company behind him. I hope MJ gets what he deserves now that he's on a roll to smear sony and Mottola. I hope he doesn't sell another record ever. He doesn't even come close to TTD and Prince.

That's very true Dorothy. MJ is indeed a pop artist and the other two are true musicians. MJ might have more fans around the world, but people who appreciate real musicianship know the difference and can tell who's got the true talent.

Loyalty knows no boundaries. It amazes me that some people were constantly praising TTD on other posts, yet when he made a statement openly stating his distate for Michael Jackson, they drop him because he has told the truth about their so-called hero. TTD's subsequent albums were groundbreaking and earned critical acclaim. The problem is that TTD is a musician so he was trying new things on each album that followed Hardline. He didn't try to recreate Sign Your Name pt. 2, or Wishing Well 10. His sound grew by leaps and bounds, however he was not marketed properly in this country. I honestly do not think that most people cared about his ego, Prince has a major ego and he garnerd major hits in the 1980's. I honestly feel that MJ's rant caused Sony to question the way it was going to market TTD while in the process slowly ending him his career with mass audiences. MJ fans are so brainwashed its sad, they ignore his obvious self hatred i.e. skin bleaching, nose jobs etc. etc. etc. and champion him when he plays the race card as the so-called victim in his dealings with Sony. MJ is a joke and his fans that whitewash his actions are as well.
