I just saw Elton John in concert last night....

AND HOLY CRAP, IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!

I've been an Elton fan for 20 years, and last night was the first (and possibly last) time I've seen him live. He was incredible! His piano playing blew me away, and his voice sounded amazing. I cried hysterically during "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road", because that was my favorite song when I was 3, after seeing it on the Muppet Show. He played a lot of his 70's hits, and threw in some of his 90's work, as well as his new stuff. (He left out the Lion King songs, however) It was nice to see the evolution of such a talented artist. He has so much soul, and even got a little funky during an extended jam at the end of Rocket Man. He performed a piano solo that probably lasted about 10 minutes, which covered everything from classical piano, to pop, to blues, then he took it to church at the end. cool I know a lot of people think he's "lost it", but he is still a superstar! That concert was worth every penny. I can die happy now! biggrin

Yes he is an amazing performer.

He played the extended Rocket Man when i seen him a year ago and it was great.

He's coming back to my city in November so I'll need to get tickets tomorrow when they go on sale. He's always worth every penny.

Glad you enjoyed yourself. smile

Im glad you loved it, I agree 100%, i have seen him about 10 times, and 11th in November and i never have been let down. I feel he has gotten even stronger as a performer because back in the 70's and 80's there were alot of "glitzy" shows and costumes and he doesnt do that anymore so the 100% focus is on the music and instrumentation. He never fails to impress me, and the piano work, i know its hard to call someone the "best" but he can go off like a madman, love when he gets into those jams. In this day and age where artists can barely do 90 minute shows, Elton at 59 seems to have no problem do 2+hrs sometimes 3, especially when he is here in NYC. On the "Songs from the west coast tour" I saw him at MSG and the show started at 8:05, he played straight with no break, no costume change till 10:30, went off changed, came back at 10:40 and played till Midnight.

"We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F
