Does Anybody Remember that 80's Group English Beat? I guess you could classify them as a new wave group. I never paid much attention to them back in the 80's, but have heard some of their songs on VH-1's show, "I Love the 80's". I have found that I like their music. But then again, I could be a bit biased, since everybody who knows me on here knows that I love anything that has to do with the 80's. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Wow, lucky you! Have a great time (I know you will). Thanks. I just found out that they're touring again and that I'll be in town for that show. Now I just have to find someone to drag along with me. I can't say that I've heard anything from English Beat, but I do know the spin off group, General Public. I love "Tenderness" and their '94 cover of "I'll Take You There" from "Reality Bites".

Weren't they an early version of Fine Young Cannibals?

Actually, the English Beat split into two groups; the lead singer, bassist, and horn section formed General Public, while the lead guitarist and keyboard player hooked up ith Roland Gift to form Fine Young Cannibals.

That tour is getting good reveiws. Not the orignial lineup, but the band includes members of the Specials and the Selecters and Dave Wakeling is supposed to be killing it. I think I missed them in these parts. a psychotic is someone who just figured out what's going on

I saw them a couple of times already, but that was about 12 years ago already. And I love the venue they're playing at in Mpls. The Cabooze: nice, big, dirty bar with a small stage and a great mix of people. I practically used to live there. I thought I knew who they were, but in my head I was confusing them with London Beat.
