Its from a docu-concert film, can't remember the title.

Marvin is definately one of my all time favorite singers. We even shared the same birthday. I sincerely hope an accurate bio pic is made on him someday.His story would make an incredible film.

Marvin was the master, no doubt, but his era was a particular fertile and creative one for black music. Think of all of the genuinely innovative and inspiring stuff people like Stevie Wonder, Curtis Mayfield, Sly Stone, James Brown were coming out with at the time. What's Going On is pretty hard to top though ...

This guy walks around singing with a high voice, calling himself Prince. Doesn't he know I'm the ONLY Prince?-Marvin Gaye.

Marvin resented the hell out of Lou Rawls(was this close from punching him when he lost for Lou), Teddy Pendergrass(He was intimidated by Teddy's new sexual direction, Nona's mother went to become Teddy's girl after Marvin pushed her to it) and Rick James(he nearly stomped on his throat for calling him 'Uncle Marvin').

I suggest everybody to pick up Divided Souls by David Ritz. It really illustrated Marvin's personality from many aspects.

I think I read that there were some problems with obtaining his Motown material for this new film, so it will mostly cover the last years he lived (hence the "Sexual Healing" title instead of say, "Mercy, Mercy Me" which would've been my pick).

Prince and Marvin do have a sort of icky connection with Nona, though. Sorry, I had to say it....I was pissed at Prince messing with that poor young girl's head. Like she hasn't had enough problems in life....

Marvin's voice, that ever-lovin' "cry" he had. They don't make 'em like him anymore!

And the connection between him and his father were complex. As much as I admire the book, it drew a one-dimensional picture about their relationships,,,,I think their relationship was WAAAY deeper than that.

But the ironic thing about Marvin's relationships, they all are love-hate relationships(minus his mother).

But David really captured the link between Marvin's life and the whole "Greek Tragedy" theme.
