The Isley Brothers used to be some hard jammin' motherfuckers. It just trips me out how so many of these youngsters think they are strictly balladeers. The Isleys used to straight get off! Andy is a four letter word.

"Footsteps in the Dark" is a ballad, not an uptempo song. THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. HOLD ON TO YOUR DRAWERS!

" I thought that song demonstrated the beginning of the 3+3 era's decline. That was the beginning of the three albums -- "Grand Slam," "Inside You" and "The Real Deal" -- where The Isley Brothers' brand of music sound dated. "Footsteps in the Dark" is a ballad, not an uptempo song. I was thinking it's close enough to midtempo to warrant a mention. I guess it is more of a ballad, though. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

An essential collection for Isley fans, because (I believe) it's the only domestic Isley Brothers CD with Coolin' Me Out.

You may be right, because I bought an imported version of "Showdown," and I don't believe that album is readily available in the United States.
It's a shame that 1978's "Showdown" has not been issued, since it was arguably the last great album released by the 3+3 version of The Isley Brothers. Another that I am surprised has never been reissued is 1980's "Go All the Way."
