Courtney Love Saves Whitney Houston! source: perezhilton.com
Courtney Love has been to hell and back and the rock legend is using her survivor status to help fellow embattled singer Whitney Houston. According to the new issue of Us Weekly, Courtney and Whitney have forged a new friendship and it is with the help of Kurt Cobain's widow that Bobby Brown's soon-to-be former wife kicked drugs. When Courtney saw the shocking images of "Whitney's Crack Den" and the accompanying story in the National Enquirer, she was spurred into action. Love reached out to Clive Davis, Houston's mentor, and offered help. "Courtney has been there and really understands her [Whitney]," explains one insider. In fact, Love - clean and sober for more than a year - recommended her addiction counselor, LA-based Warren Boyd, who runs a live-in treatment center in Malibu called Wavelengths. Five months ago, Clive and Boyd flew to Atlanta, where Whitney was based, and staged an intervention. Thankfully, Houston was receptive this time, her third attempt in as many years to get clean, and she left her suburban Atlanta home for a rental in the LA area, where she could be close to Boyd and participate in long-term outpatient rehab. When Boyd worked with a recovering Love, he kept close tabs on her - "He knows where I'm at all the time," she said at the time. Getting rid of "bad influences" may have been the deciding motivator in Houston's final split from Brown. With daughter Bobbi Kristina in Los Angeles with her, Whitney has "chosen to get well. She doesn't live her life in any way for him [Bobby]," says an insider. Brown's recent infidelities were the final straw for Houston, who - according to Us - may file for bankruptcy to protect her assets in a divorce from Brown.
