I just watched a video doc about Tupac called "Thug Angel". It was very interesting, however the be4st yet is a book i recenlty finished called "LAbryinth" whcih foucuses on the deaths of Pac, Biggie and the corruption of the LAPD, this is a must read. I too have come to admire Tupac for his work, he was a very talented person. In the beginning when I first heard his music I was turned off by the whole, "Thug Mentality", however After his CD "All eyez on me" I really started to listen to him and appreciate his lyrical poetry. "Dear Momma" is one of my favorite songs. It's a shame the way he died beause I believe he only scrathed the surface of his talent. R.I.P

Tupac Shakur is music best poet ever, in my opinion. He was more than a rapper. I don't think he will ever get the respect from the general music world because he was a rapper, and controversial. Tupac's lyrics were brutally honest, heartfelt and genuine..he was a true Artist. Tupac had a brilliant delivery style when presenting his lyrics, no other rapper or singer I've heard of delivered the way Tupac delivered. I'm not saying this because i'm a rap fan..my music tastes ranges from Pink Floyd, to Stevie Wonder to Led Zeppelin to Billy Joel... people think i'm nuts when I say that Tupac Shakur is more brilliant than those names i mentioned above. I think Tupac will never get his due years from now...he surely won't be forgotten but he probably won't get his due in regards to the general music world, except for the rap world.

As a person that writes poetry, I have great respect for Pac as a writer/poet. His work was brutally honest, heartfelt, raw, melodramatic, sensual, violent, raging etc...A great writer have to have the ability to convey a range of different experiences and emotions. And Pac did this great accuracy. What did Billy Joel say...The Good Die Young... R.I.P.

Peace,
Brother 9/15

IN THE EVENT OF MY DEMISE
In the event of my Demise
when my heart can beat no more
I Hope I Die For A Principle
or A Belief that I had Lived 4
I will die Before My Time
Because I feel the shadow's Depth
so much I wanted 2 accomplish
before I reached my Death
I have come 2 grips with the possibility
and wiped the last tear from My eyes
I Loved All who were Positive
In the event of my Demise

By Tupac Shakur

(Poem taken from actual writings of Tupac Shakur from
'The Poetry Circle'

FALLEN STAR
4 Huey P Newton
They could never understand
what u set out 2 do
instead they chose 2
ridicule u
when u got weak
they loved the sight
of your dimming
and flickering starlight
How could they understand what was so intricate
2 be loved by so many, so intimate
they wanted 2 c your lifeless corpse
this way u could not alter the course
of ignorance that they have set
2 make my people forget
what they have done for much 2 long
2 just forget and carry on
I had loved u forever because of who u r
and now I mourn our fallen star

By Tupac Shakur

AND 2MORROW

Today is filled with anger
fueled with hidden hate
scared of being outcast
afraid of common fate
Today is built on tragedies
which no one wants 2 face
nightmares 2 humanities
and morally disgraced
Tonight is filled with rage
violence in the air
children bred with ruthlessness
because no one at home cares
Tonight I lay my head down
but the pressure never stops
knawing at my sanity
content when I am dropped
But 2morrow I c change
a chance 2 build a new
Built on spirit intent of Heart
and ideals
based on truth
and tomorrow I wake with second wind
and strong because of pride
2 know I fought with all my heart 2 keep my
dream alive

You know what, I was just watching the movie "Gridlock'd" a few nights ago and I was amazed by the raw talent that 2pac had. He is such a gifted person. Once you get pass all of the bravado and the "gangsta-ism" he is really a awe-inspiring person and one that makes you stop. His acting was incredible in "Gridlock'd" and I feel the movie was overshadowed by "Trainspotting" which had a similar theme, but received more adulation.

I remember when we were visiting the wilderness areas of the northern Finland. This is way past the polar circle and almost completely devoid of any inhabitance - Man, it's practically Canada! Anyway, we happened to stop at a gas station and at the men's room there was a tag on the wall that said "Long Live Tupac Amaru Shakur! Finland mourns the dead brother!"

Hilarious.
