The "What Song Is This", "Who Sings It", "Is It Available On CD" Thread

My birthday is Monday, September 25 and my wonderful co-worker gave me a $40 gift certificate to a local record store. I have been in that store so often I know what they have in stock. lol Anyway, rather than just spending my $40 on whatever is available at the time, I thought about getting the store to order something they don't have that I really want.

I have a particular song in mind that I want by The Pointer Sisters. The song was obviously recorded during the disco era. I have one Pointer Sisters greatest hits collection already and I bought another one about a month ago that had more songs from the 1970s and the song was not on that compilation. Does anyone know which Pointer Sisters song I am referring to? If so, what is the name of it and is it available on CD?

We've Got the Power maybe? You can listen to a sample of it here. It was originally on the 1980 album, Special Things.

I don't know the name of it. I can't even remember how the song goes. I heard it for the first time about two months ago on the "Lunch Time Oldies" hour on the radio. Does "Happiness" have a funky disco feel to it?

I can't hear samples on this computer. I wish I could. lol Is that the same 1980 album that contains "He's So Shy"? If so, I have the album and I'll have to pull it and listen to that song.

A few years ago,Jamiroquai released a multi-artist compilation CD called "Late Night Tales".It consists of a bunch of songs that inspired them and one of the songs is "Happiness" by the Pointer Sisters,a very funky track from 1978...

OK. The song I'm talking about sounds more like it was done in the late 1970s. A jam like this I would have took notice to when I bought the album and put the needle on each track. I'll check it again though because I have been known to overlook a jam every now and then. Thanks.

I've seen that album in one of the record stores...if I can just remember which one. When I was guessing when the song was recorded, my first guess was 1978. If it's not that particular song, I bet it's on the same Pointer Sisters album that contains it.

Go to CDUniverse or Amazon, type in "Pointer Sisters",find a compilation and listen to the sound clips lol that's how I always find songs that I'm looking for (assuming I know who sings it)

Another jam I'm looking for is by the group 7th Wonder...I think. I don't know the name of the song but I can tell you it is NOT "Daisy Lady". This song was definately recorded in either 1980 or 1981 and is very funky. It used to be played on a local "Soul Train" type TV show in my area called "Black Gold". I remember the album cover had the group (about six, seven, or eight members) dressed like Egyptians. I think they even performed the song on "Soul Train" also.
