What puzzles me in this situation is the press knows that acknowledging he is gay would destroy his career yet they keep pushing him for an answer & they won't stop until he says yes I am gay. Its like the story they really want to cover is how Clay admitting he is gay has destroyed his recording career - that is the story they really want to tell. The press want to knock him down. Why? Not that I'm a fan of Aiken but it seems the press has a hard-on to bring him out of the closet.

It does seem strange, yes. I think they just want the big story. If Clay Aiken came out on some show, it would mean ratings. I don't think they care about the effect it would have on his career.

The funny thing is that he doesn't really need to come out anyways because everyone knows he's gay. But it wouldn't be until he actually made some statement about it until he suffered a major backlash.

I think you're exactly right. Almost everybody assumes he's gay anyway, so what's the point? He's a tragic mess and it's good fodder for the rags and the mainstream media. It's kinda sickening to be honest to see so called professional journalists go so doggedly after this story.

The funny thing is that WAL-MART isnt a SoundScan reporter. Plus it doesnt matter what is sold over the counter, dont people realize this already, its what the STORE orders!
