ANNE CLARK

I always wondered if there are fans of Anne Clark on this board. Back in the 80s she became very popular here in Germany with hits such as "Sleeper in Metropolis" and "Our Darkness". I think it is sad that she never became as popular as she should have been in the UK or America due to poor marketing of her former record company.
Anyone who likes New Wave artists like Heaven 17, Yazoo, Erasure etc. should check out her work. What I really like about her are her amazing lyrics that she speaks over an electronic or in recent years acoustic background.

Here is a sample back from 1987 taken from a french TV show:

SHe was ok. I think she got a lot of milage off of her two hits, which sound awfully similar. I think what everyone dug was the lyrics which were poetry driven and kinda dark and gothy.

I take her in as more of the electro-goth scene than the light new wavey scene.

Yeah, the two hits i mentioned sound a bit similar but there is much more to her work than just these two songs. Her acoustic work sounds very different from that. She hasnĀ“t done a solo-record for a few years now but she goes on tour quite often here in Germany and usually does it only with acoustic instruments. I saw her 6 times now and it was always a great experience.
