Pointer sisters - "American music"

I`m not that familiar with the Pointer sisters, but i love this song, it`s so cheerful woot!

"From the purple peaks to the city streets
People searching for the rock and roll scene
The power of the pounding beat
The magic in the dream
They want American music"

Ace

I'm partial to their cover of Bruce Springsteen's "Fire" and "Slowhand" has some nice harmonies/chord changes.

Harlepolis

For some reason, I couldn't get too much into the Pointer sisters(or any other 70's girl group).

The only 2 female groups I dug from the 70's are the Jones girls and the Emotions.

Not familar with them but you know this song? I didn't think this was one of their huge hits? There is a pretty great overview of their hit RCA years (that is without Bonnie) available as an import. It's a three disc set, includes 12 inches of their huge hits like "Jump". It also includes all or nearly all of the smash album "Breakout". It's only $12.85 at Cduniverse (has a different cover from the one I have, though), it's probably the same thing. It's called "Legends" (mine is actually called "Legendary"). It should be a crime that it's so cheap (I don't know how much I paid....I want to say under $20).

I should point out though, that the sound quality lacks a little. It's recorded very low or something (something I've experienced with a lot of older CDs).

Aww, too bad they didn't do a cover of the Violent Femmes' song...

I would check that set out. Great overview although it doesn't include a lot of their big seventies hits like "Yes We Can Can".

The legends collections are brilliant, they did a great job with Dionne Warwick, and included some rare tracks. I also have the legends collection of Oddyssey, and i HAVE to get the Evelyn "Champagne" King collection too...

I just did a search and Five Star has one! I mean, Five Star! 3 discs? I just looked at the Dionne one. All of her later stuff, after the Barrach stuff.

I haven`t heard of that group boxed Are they any good?
Dionne has recorded tons of wonderful songs after she joined Arista nod The collection is worth checking out.

They've been discussed on the group once or twice. I think it's basically the Jets, without the hits and with more transexuals. They had one big hit I hear all the time on Sirius titled "All Fall Down". A three disc set seems like a lot.
