Recommend some good instrumentals....Please. :) I have a project due in a couple of weeks for a Stage Lighting Tech course. We have to do a light show accompanied by music. The music has to be an instrumental that's 2-4 minutes long. I'm thinking about going with Gary Numan's "Asylum"....you know with it being so close to Halloween. It's not pushing 4 minutes either, so that's a plus. We have to talk through the presentation at some points, so I don't really wanna be up there for the full 4 minutes. 4 minutes isn't long, but when you have public speaking anxiety....it is The music also has to fit with the light show. So if I go with that song it means my show would have to be kinda sorta spooky. I'm still not completely sure what type of show I'm gonna go with though. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

Gee! Wow... songs without people singing words... that's a stumper!

Wait? Isn't that what they call "jazz"... or "classical?" Naw! 2-4 minutes though Preferably closer to the 2 minute mark. Martin Denny's "Swamp Fire" and Archive's "Old Artist" are in the running.....but that's pushing 4 minutes. I can't remember, but I think it may be slightly over 4 minutes. "Classical" is good depending on the mood, but I think it would make for a really really boring light show. Maybe something by Don Tiki....some Hawaiian music maybe. Considering the movies.....most likey suspenseful and dramatic. That's a good thing I'll check the time lengths on them....thanks looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

If you're going for spooky and Halloween-y, you might give this a try:
Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells. Okay, so the full album version clocks in at near 25:00 long, but the single version is closer to 4:00. One of the most popular instrumentals.

General:
Alexa de Paris - Prince T.S.O.P. (The Sound of Philadelphia) - MFSB (this one has the doos in the background, though) Love's Theme - Barry White & the Love Unlimited Orchestra Contusion - Stevie Wonder Tomorrow - The Brothers Johnson Soundtracks: The Imperial March (from "The Empire Strikes Back") - John Williams Main Title/Rebel Blockade Runner (from "Star Wars") - John Williams Anakin vs. Obi-Wan (from "Attack of the Clones") - John Williams Monk Theme - Jeff Beal The Execution (from "The Mole") - David Michael Frank Games: Legend of Zelda Theme Super Mario Bros. Medley The Phantom Forest - Final Fantasy VI Phantom Train - FFVI Terra - FFVI "The Imperial March" is pretty obvious, but that might be a good choice. The two "Phantom" songs from FFVI are kind of ominous. [Edited 9/19/06 16:33pm] "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

The Exorcist I'll put it in the running. I'm going into movie themes now, but I thought about the theme from Friday the 13th Pt. 3.....the disco horror one. It's kinda cheesy, but I'm cheesy at times, so I could easily think of silly lighting to go along with it Disco vs. horror....what an odd combo. Oh god, so many choices. I'm gonna have a hard time narrowing it down. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

Maybe I've heard "Tomorrow".....it's not ringing a bell right now though. And "Soul Train"? are you serious? I feel so slow.....what person on the face of this Earth has never heard "Soul Train" That would make for a really lively show.....the opposite of the Gary Numan song, but it'll be in the running. You mentioned Quicy Jones and I automatically thought about "Ironside". Kill Bill made me fall in love with that song. I can't remember the time length though. There are some good key changes in that song....perfect for lighting effects. [Edited 9/19/06 17:13pm] looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)
