This is actually a very odd point in MJ's life/career!! For some reason he got a huge hard-on for Prince? This is the prince era when he was acting weird for a few months. Remember the American Music Awards when prince won awards, only said "thank you" then left, he also wouldnt talk at all & he got more press for not doing USA for Africa.

For some reason MJ wanted to copy this Prince? He started bleaching his skin, stopped talking to the press, starting acting really odd. Basically the whole BAD Era is where he wanted to be prince! Look at the original BAD album cover. His face was cover with Lace. The first video he wanted prince in it and just watch and listen to those lyrics.

This I feel is where MJ lost his mind, when he started wishing he was prince. I mean look at it. His sister bombs doing her father's/jacksons blueprint to music. Then in 1986 she gets 2 old prince guys to produce her album and boom she is huge. before that she was probably going to be dropped by the label.






Very strange man and it started to slide when he stopped being himself and tried to be the Prince of 1985.

Prince, Purple Rain movie, winning an Oscar, His sister "doing prince", shit even the band Heart came back with "prince clothes" and where huge.

Prince was the music industry in 1984-1986.

lol, Michael is such a huge Prince fan. I think he was jealous of Purple Rain. It seemed like it was what he had wanted Thriller to be. I think Prince fucked Michael up when he declined the Bad duet. Michael was such a huge Prince fan, and then for Prince to say Michael's not good enough for him, really fucked Michael up. I truly think that was his decline. After that he dressed like Prince in the Bad video, got Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis to work on HIStory, he even tried to be sexually explicit on stage with the whole crotch grabbing thing and humping the mic stand and the guitarist when she soloed. In the lyrics of "In the Closet" it seemed like Michael was trying to out-sex Prince or something. He even named his son Prince. Some say it's because he regards himself as a king, and therefore his son is a prince. Some say his grandfather's name was Prince. But I'm fairly certain it's because he has such a hard-on for Prince. It'll be interesting to see where MJ takes his career next and whether or not it bears any resembalance to what Prince has done in the last 3 years to get his career back on track.

That photo is pure gold....an absolute classic. He looks so pissed on it. You know how MJ's fragile mental state will have found it very difficult to know he's competing with some one of Prince's prolificacy, and musical abilties. The fact that he was a great performer too must have just heightened how threatened he felt.

I believe Prince was everything MJ wanted to be, uninhibited, sexual, a ladies man, and true innovator, but there was always something inhibiting him - his unprbringing, or maybe even his own unbelievable success - never allowed him the freedom he yearned for.

Add to that that Prince was a Grammy and an Oscar winner, and MJ was for sure pissed.
