That's a hotel room y'all. And good gawd I remember that USA Today review of Purple Rain. He read his in that room and I read mine on the way home from a Circle K store lol. It was overcast that afternoon.

One more thing. That pic is seminheartbreaking. Him there and him now. What a contrast (looks and career wise). He was badass back then. Now a caricature of ..of.."something" it's almost tragic.

Candid pics such as these are amazing still life though!

I don´t know if it´s still true, but Mike let ppl smoke around him. I remember Slash saying he smoked around him and that he didn´t care and as far as I know Lisa Marie Presley is a smoker as well.

OMG, I love everything about that picture! That black lacquer furniture, the fact that we see his loafers and sweat socks (even if only by reflection), the sparkly thin tie, the kitty cat lamp (or is it a dog?), the wallpaper that looks straight out of The Golden Girls, the mysterious Marlboros...all of it, so helplessly 80s. I wonder if his aviator shades are in that soft glasses case.

That picture looks like it was taken during the "Thriller" era. He's probably reading up on Prince so he can come back looking like him. Remember when he came back on the "Bad" video with a much longer curl like Prince and a black outfit similar to Prince's in the "When Doves Cry" video.

His tie speaks of being a Prince fan

I can tell Mike was always a fan. He wouldn't have told James Brown to call him up to the stage if he wasn't.

Actually the skinny ties were very fashionable during the time. Lots of rock and new wave groups were wearing them.
