*SCOOP* Sugarcubes reuniting for a one-time-only concert! Source: http://www.mbl.is/mm/folk...id=1224289
Yes, according to the Icelandic media, The Sugarcubes will be playing in Laugardalshöll sports centre in Reykjavík, Iceland on November 17th to celebrate the 20th birthday of their first single "Ammæli" ("Birthday") which was originally released on November 21st in 1986. The last time the band played together on stage was on November 18th in 1992. Icelandair will be offering worldwide special package-trips to the concert.... I have never seen Björk in concert and I was only 10 years old when The Sugarcubes folded, so I'm seriously thinking about going to the concert.... [Edited 9/18/06 15:09pm]

Some extra info, from the Reykjavík Grapevine (source in English):
In a phone conversation with the Grapevine, founding Sugarcube Benediktsson confirmed the announcement, stating that the band thought it highly proper to celebrate this birthday of ‘Birthday’. When asked if the band had any other reunion-type activities planned, Benediktsson said that nothing further was scheduled as of now. “We feel that this whole celebration is enough for the moment, as we all have our respective projects that we devote our time and energy to. I don’t want to exclude anything, but right now, the focus lies solely on the impending birthday celebration of the Sugarcubes and Smekkleysa. Will we record the show? Yeah, I suppose we will, if only so we can hear how bad or good we’ve gotten.” [Edited 9/18/06 15:09pm]

I saw their first U.S. appearance at the 9:30 club in D.C. and Bjork blew me away then. There was a fan blowing her hair back the entire night. I was about ten feet away from her looking up at her. Imagine hearing her voice live for the first time, first show in the states. I felt born again. After the show, I waited outside for the band to appear but the only one who came out was that annoying guy Einar Orn or something like that. I still wanted to meet Bjork but settled for taking Einar's water bottle home with me as a souvenir. Kind of gross right? But that day I fell in love with, still, my favorite female singer.
