The Matchbox Twenty & Rob Thomas Thread So whenever I talk about my favorite artists, this is the only band that doesn't really seem to go with the rest. (Consider, almost all of my other favorite artists were at their sales peeks during the 80s: Michael Jackson, Prince, George Michael, Billy Joel, INXS, David Lee Roth, Huey Lewis and The News..You get the idea.)
That band is Matchbox Twenty. I'm not sure if any orgers know of this band, or perhaps they do and don't care. I realize it is probably way far away from Prince's sound. (Even close..?) However, Wendy (Prince's Wendy) was on Rob Thomas' solo album last year. Who is Rob Thomas? The frontman of the band. What do the orgers think of the band? They are one of my favorite bands and for me, one of the only "alternative" band I can probably listen to any song from and like. I've seen them live in concert twice now. Once in 1998 and again in 2003. And Rob Thomas' debut solo album wasn't that bad either. Come to think of it, I think it was great. Any other orgers dig this band?

Overall I find them bland, but I admire Rob Thomas' ability to write a good hook.

I think they're a good band. I went to a couple of their shows after Mad Season came out. They were a blast. I gotta say though, I don't listen to them much anymore. It's wierd because I still like their stuff, I just don't play it anymore.

They're OK. I like a lot of their songs, but I wouldn't call them one of my favorites. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis
