No. The collective sum of their parts exceeded them individually.
But Paul became a much more pronounced bass player on his solo recordings than he was overall with the Beatles. And with the Beatles his playing wasn't shabby either. No. They were better as a group, each one sort of checking each other. John refused 2 do some of Paul's cornier,sillier songs while Paul kind of softened John's hardness with some really nice harmonies. That's the way I c it.
