I seem to be the only one that has problems with choirgirl. It's like she found an anti-sextonseven wavelength and just hit it over and over on that album. Half the songs I love (Spark, Northern Lad, Black-Dove, Jackie's Strength) and the other half I just find painful to listen to (She's Your Cocaine, iieee, Pandora's Aquarium, Liquid Diamonds, Hotel). It's not the lyrics, it's the melodies--they just rub me the wrong way. I can't explain it.

It's definitely not the electronics, because I LOVE 'To Venus And Back'. That's my 2nd favorite Tori record after 'Little Earthquakes'. I dunno. Do you see any big difference between these sets of songs?

That's true. The songs that are really out there are on my shitlist. But "Datura" which tops all those in weirdness by 100, I love. Go figure.

I went to the Barnes & Noble near work this morning at 9:15 to get the box set. Sold out.

Just ordered it online so I should have it by the weekend.

Best Buy is right across the street from Barnes & Noble here. But I wanted that 6th interview disc in the B&N edition. I'm just as fammy as those other Tori freaks.

i was going to get it at my lunch break, but there isn't a Best Buy nearby - only a Borders, and a Tower Records... I figure it will be cheapest at Best Buy, so I guess I'll wait for the drive home this evening.

ups is scheduled for an on time delivery some time today. unfortunately i'll be at school and unavailable to sign for it. hopefully they'll drop it at the leasing office, which is a common thing but not a guarantee.

B-sides used to very much be a big part of a release of work. For me they were never an afterthought. There was a time when you would buy a commercial single before the release of the record, and the B-sides would be included on these singles as bonus material. So in essence, besides the first single, B-sides would be one of the first things you heard from the new record. Therefore, there was a lot of effort put into making these moments sparkle. With the change in how people get their music, B-sides have become a thing of the past. But some of them were my favorites.

"Cooling", in retrospect, probably should have been on Boys For Pele, but I think maybe it was one of those things I wasn't ready to put on an album. You can't get away from the fact that when you put a song on an album it's out there for everyone to judge and critique. There have been certain songs, and I can't tell you why, that I just haven't wanted to expose. Maybe it's a little too close to the bone. But for whatever reason, you just feel as if you don't want everybody making a comment on it. On this box set we've included "Cooling" in its original form, which was recorded at the church in Delgany, Co. Wicklow, Ireland.

"Cooling" has remained one of my personal favorites to play live. Maybe that is why there are so many incarnations of it. When I'm playing "Cooling" in a show you know it's either because I'm having a really tough day and it's the thing that's getting me through or I'm having the best time of my life and that's why I want to play "Cooling".

i can't immerse myself in it the way i really want to because i have midterms this saturday and next. i think i'm going to listen to one disc per day through sunday. i was going to do an all day saturday thing after my first round of midterms but then i got tickets for tom petty and stevie nicks on saturday night. that two hours changes my whole weekend (how sad is that).
