Well, the first one that grabbed me was Smells Like Teen Spirit which I became utterly obsessed with and am now on this Nirvana kick and was standing in a bookstore today reading all about the history of grunge. lol (I missed it the first time around lol)

Then I became obsessed with Honey and now I'm grooving on The Happy Worker.

And I've only gotten through the first two discs. Haven't even listened to 3 & 4 yet.

Yeah, her early covers are supreme. "Honey" is one of her best too. Perhaps my favorites are from the "Choirgirl" singles though.

Let me know what you think of those once you get to them.

Yeah, the only radio mix I included was the Dakota Version of "Hey Jupiter" because it sounds electronic to me and would fit on my set as opposed to the other single mixes for songs like "Crucify", "Concertina" or "Cruel" which remained close to the originals. I also wanted the order to be somewhat chronological and at the same time group the mainstream club mixes together and keep the slower ambient remixes apart from those. Dub mixes for the most part, aren't my thing and I try to generally stay away from them. I'd add the remix of "Horses" you sent me in a second if the quality was better. Maybe I can get my brother to boost the volume on that one. He knows how to do all that stuff.

Of course I can send you my Tori scans, but the black and white photos I'm pretty sure I got from the 'All These Years' biography so if you have that book, you might be able to get a better scan yourself.

I don't have much use for dubs either. They're pretty pointless. And I never understood putting them on CD. They should be reserved strictly for vinyl. I'm sure DJ's get a lot of them, but for the average consumer, what's the point?

What CD burning program do you use? It's pretty easy to tweak volume in most of them. If you'd like, I can hook you up with something louder.

And is there any way if I sent you my tracklists that you could enter them into your art and send them back to me? batting eyes

I don't know too many fans the pick that one as a favorite seeing as how Tori doesn't play on it and it was written and produced by Trevor Horn (The Buggles, The Art Of Noise).

nod Especially considering that Tori herself doesn't care for it. She nixed the single release when she heard the final mix!

show me where it says, in the rulebook, that our favorites must meet certain criteria such as "they must be among tracks tori enjoys." lol

i like some of the material from y kant tori read a lot but ol' girl never mentions them. should those of us who like those songs start being dismissive of them? shrug

NERO is the one I use and it's very user friendly. There's all sorts of remastering stuff you can do on it. And editing. Love it.

Well she plays "Cool On Your Island" and "Etienne" quite often live, so she's obviously found some use for those songs.

I can see how in the context of what she was doing with "Little Earthquakes" how "Happy Worker" might seem in opposition to that.

It's an enjoyable enough track, but hugely out of place in her discography.

I've always loved "Cool on your Island", and i'm glad that Tori still plays it, and "Etienne" as well. The way she did "COYI" on the 2001 tour - really intense - was much more powerful than her more restrained versions on the most recent solo tour.

I really wish she had done the live bootleg CD project from the 2001 tour, it was tons better in my humble opinion. cool

lol I most definitely can do that if you like. Or send you the original scans. Whichever you prefer.

I'm pretty sure my brother has NERO. I just burn all my CDs through iTunes.

Have you watched the DVD that came with the Beekeeper? It adds a huge dimension and window of understanding. Nathan and I watched it together one night and were both in tears. I think it will touch your heart deeply and you'll listen to Beekeeper with new ears.

Etienne is one of my favourite songs by anyone ~ there was an instant connection with it the first time I heard it. Hmmmmm ~~~~~ maybe I'm a witch ~~~~~ or, maybe it's a moon thing. smile

nod I have seen the DVD. I love anything where she talks. I like the Beekeeper. In fact, I had a genuine spiritual experience with that album listening to it when it first came out. Now it's not my favorite, but that's just because I'm exploring her earlier work and can't keep it all in my head. I also don't own the album myself. I wasn't a huge fan of Under the Pink even though I listened to it a bazillion times at work, until I bought the CD myself and could really pay attention to it. Now I think that is one of the most flawless albums ever made. But this whole thing of "which is your favorite Tori album" just becomes absurd when they are all so goshdang awesome.

You are so dead on ~ it's like trying to choose a favourite child or dog or something. I have this with Little Earthquakes and Pele ~ they are each my favourite while I'm listening to them ~ then I put the other one on and it's my shining star. What beautiful gifts she has given us!

Little Earthquakes is the one I overlook the most in comparison to how much I loved it originally. I think I just wore it out.

But the first disc of her box set really revived my interest in it. It's probably the disc I've listened to the most so far.
