I'm not sure how I'd feel about Tori songs remixed though. Some are very ambient, others sound techno-ish. It's interesting to say the least. I really like the ambient ones like Scarlet Spectrum Feels and Mainline Cherry. The Father Lucifer one is ace too. The dancier ones are a bit more hit or miss for me. The Springtime, Jackie's Strength and God ones are good. My favorite ones are a lot of the single mixes like Hey Jupiter (Dakota Version), Concertina, Strange, Talula (Tornado Mix), etc. Oh and Sexton...if you haven't gotten the remixes for Horses and especially Putting the Damage On, you must hunt them down. You'll love.

I'm too broke to buy the box sadly. I was reading pieces of her book last night...god that woman is a class motherfuckin act. I also broke out "Choirgirl" for the first time in over a year..."Cruel" "iieee" and "Liquid Diamonds" are the shit. And for people who didn't love the Beekeeper...what is up with you all? Her best record of the 00s, easily. co-sign to allathat. I know I'm a superfan, so I guess it's not much of a surprise that the book blew me away. It's so good they should use it in college classrooms for music and art students.

I was in HMV recently, and the only Tori thing in their section was the box set.
As I walked away, I saw a couple of guys look at it very oddly.. It stuck out like a sore thumb on the display. It probably wasn't meant to attract attention in quite that way commercially, but I bet plenty of folk will be coming over to it just to see what the heck it is...like for 'Pulse' by the Floyd with those led lights that blinked.. Anyway - just a small anecdote! "I'm much too hot to be cool"

I've never heard the creative process broken down so well. It's amazing to have a genius just hand you the nitty gritty of exactly how they do what they do. As a musician myself, I find her advice extremely useful and generous. She goes way beyond the "record companies are bad" stance of Prince to actually tell you what to look out for and how not to get bullied around. I wish she was my manager.

I'm sorry, but that Welcome to Sunny Florida was boring especially considering its a Tori concert,Live In New York is a MILLION times better, even though its only available on VHS. I DON'T WANT TO BE NORMAL,because normal is part of the status quo, which I don't want to be a part of- Tori Amos

I like them both, but it's hard to compete with possessed, drooling, cross-eyed Tori during the Pele years.

I'm not sure. I've only ever seen it once. Was it "Blood Roses" or "Little Amsterdam"?

I purposely wanted only concert photos for the live discs. And for the remix ones, I looked for pics of Tori NOT playing the piano since her playing was pretty much removed from most if not all the tracks. In retrospect I probably should have sent 'Scarlet's Hidden Treasures' also, but I see that EP almost as another album instead of more b-sides. I love pretty much every song on that disc (much more that 'Scarlet's Walk' itself) and enjoy listening to it separately. At least this gives Supa and heartbeatocean an incentive to buy the 'Welcome To Sunny Florida' DVD now (which includes the EP). The DVD is nice. I love all the scenes in between too. If you take everything from the EP, Scarlet's Web, the new songs from Tales, etc., you have a very nice album indeed. And from what/when are the photos of your remix set? I got all the photos from books/tour programs. The one exception being the multiple Tori pic which I found online.

I used your remix set as a template and made one of my own. I even followed your tracklist somewhat and added a few things like the remix of "Horses", the Sugar Dub of "Voodoo", the Rascal Dub of "Jackie" and the Lefosse Remix of "Vegas". Oh and the Deep Dish remix of "Blue Skies". Love that one. Both discs came out to 9 tracks and are about 79 minutes each. Perfect! I've never come up with a remix set for her that I liked cuz she seems to have 2 different types of remixes - the dancey/trancey ones and the full fledged single mixes. So I like how you isolated these. I wanna snag your artwork too. Think you could help me?

It is weird since it's our favorite album and tour. I used to see them around used quite a bit. But once I realized how rare they are, I stopped seeing them.

Well, the first one that grabbed me was Smells Like Teen Spirit which I became utterly obsessed with and am now on this Nirvana kick and was standing in a bookstore today reading all about the history of grunge. (I missed it the first time around ) Then I became obsessed with Honey and now I'm grooving on The Happy Worker. And I've only gotten through the first two discs. Haven't even listened to 3 & 4 yet.

Yeah, the only radio mix I included was the Dakota Version of "Hey Jupiter" because it sounds electronic to me and would fit on my set as opposed to the other single mixes for songs like "Crucify", "Concertina" or "Cruel" which remained close to the originals. I also wanted the order to be somewhat chronological and at the same time group the mainstream club mixes together and keep the slower ambient remixes apart from those. Dub mixes for the most part, aren't my thing and I try to generally stay away from them. I'd add the remix of "Horses" you sent me in a second if the quality was better. Maybe I can get my brother to boost the volume on that one. He knows how to do all that stuff. Of course I can send you my Tori scans, but the black and white photos I'm pretty sure I got from the 'All These Years' biography so if you have that book, you might be able to get a better scan yourself. I don't know too many fans the pick that one as a favorite seeing as how Tori doesn't play on it and it was written and produced by Trevor Horn (The Buggles, The Art Of Noise).

Here's what I could find about it.
The January 23, 1997 R.A.I.N.N. benefit concert was officially released on home video (directed by Milton Lage) in the UK, Europe and Australia in November 1997, and in Canada in early February 1998. The videos format for the Canadian release is the same as US format: NTSC. The videos includes all of the songs from the actual live performance, however, some of Tori's between song banter had been edited out. Most stores are charging $24.99 for this Canadian import video. One of the most popular songs on this video is Muhammad My Friend featuring backup harmonies from Maynard James Keenan (Tool). Director: Milton Lage Warner Music Vision Time: 100 min November 1997/February 1998 set listing: Beauty Queen/Horses 6.21 Leather 3.41 Blood Roses 3.49 Little Amsterdam 6.40 Cornflake Girl 6.22 Waitress 4.04 Little Earthquakes 7.39 Upside Down 5.16 Winter 6.36 Precious Things 6.33 Caught a Lite Sneeze 6.42 Talula 4.21 Me and a Gun 6.11 Marianne 5.32 Silent All These Years 3.00 Muhammed My Friend 3.00 (with Maynard from Tool) Pretty Good Year 4.29
