First of all I am totally not into this music. But I was watching VH1 special on this genre. I don't know if anyone caught it too. There was this guy who's a big heavy metal fan, I think he was writing a book about the music and he was travelling the world speaking to various artist, fans and going to festivals.

I guess what struck me was that Black Sabbath I believe it stated was the first heavy metal band and what was more surprising to me was that the bass player and the narrator guy mentioned a lot of heavy metal music being influenced by Blues music.

Like I said, I don't know much about this type of music, especially that death metal they talked about in the show.

Are there any heavy metal fans here? What is it about the music you like? What do you think about its state today. I'm assuming it was popular in the 80's but it appears to have gone kind of underground now because I don't see that type of music on the charts.

here's my heavy metal view...
i don't dislike the bands,but i think there is some hypocrisy in some of the bands..for example metal bands don't like to be thought of as "pop" well in my view if your giving an interview for anything dealing with MTV,Vh1 then you are consider as pop...its a bad example..but whatever.

also i hate heavy metal fans more than heavy metal.

Listen to early sab, zep, deep purple...all blues inspired.

I like Metal because it's hard and fast.
