I'm going to see Madonna in Tokyo!

woot! Thank you ebay...one darn good seat on the floor for the final Confessions tour show 21 September at the Tokyo Dome! excited

While I'm in town, maybe I'll try my luck outside the Dome on Wednesday night, maybe I can get into that one too for a good price! And if that doesn't work out, I could try this...

A Japanese "look like Madonna drag show"...that might be as fun as the concert!! lol

I wouldn't be surprised, he has shown up at a few of them! Hopefully we get something special, it is the grand finale! wink

Well I'm here in my hotel in Tokyo now...still contemplating wandering over to the Dome to see if I might get lucky with the scalpers for tonight's show! I'm not sure how many, if any, there will be, but what the heck I'm in town anyway! lol

woot! Yes, I made it to the Wednesday show! I arranged to meet at the Dome with the guy supplyinig my Thursday ticket. While I was walking and talking with him about how I hoped to get a ticket, someone overheard it and offered to sell me an extra one they had (one of their group couldn't make it)! lol

He sold it to me at face price, too! It was 2nd row in the lower stands, I was just off the floor, at about a 45 degree angle to the stage, so it was a great general view of the show. AFter buying it, I found out the box office still was selling some leftover tickets in the same price range, but it looked like they weren't nearly as good.

Tomorrow I'll be a lot closer, in the first row of section B4, one of the premium seats. wink

Oh of course, the show was great. I've seen so many pics and videos on the internet, but they don't come close to capturing it, there's always so much going on. I'll be writing up some reports after I get back home on Friday!

Woohoo, can't wait until tonight!! excited

OK, just back from the final show! The show was great, of course, though no guest appearances or anything. Only significant difference was her "speech" after "Let it Will Be." Tonight she used the time to introduce all the band members and thank them, the crew, management, etc. and of course the fans for the great tour. cool

I gotta say, the Japanese law that makes them leave that huge open area between the stage and the seats SUCKS!! pout Without that, I would have been considerably closer to the stage. In particular, the end of the left runway (where she does the Like A Virgin routine!), and in general a better viewing positon altogether! She certainly bitched about it at all the Japan shows except tonight (she was too busy thanking everyone!).

I really can't fathom the reason for enforcing all that separation...supposedly something to do with the fire code, I hear. shrug I don't feel cheated, but I'm also glad I didn't pay a big markup for a ticket I thought would get me right up by the runway or stage!

Even though I've missed her on her past 2 tours, I like seeing that she's become such a road warrior. She really wimped out there in the late 90's.

BTW, here are a couple of pics I took to illustrate the ridiculously huge gap between the barricade and the stage. The first one was taken from where my seat was...the second from about the place where I actually spent most of the concert. wink

Since there was a similarly huge gap between the main runway and the seats around it, that seems to have caused the floor seats to either side to be displaced outward. Otherwise I would have been considerably closer to the end of the left runway (where she did the Like a Virgin routine on the saddle):

Edit: Here's a pic from madonnalicious.com showing the gap between the central runway and the seats... confused

I think she got burned badly on the Blond Ambition tour. She's said since that it was one of the hardest things she's done, and how she was taken by surprise at how gruelling it was. I think she began to see touring as a pain in the ass at this point, hence the Girlie Show being so different stylistically, and so short as well - she didnt play many dates on that tour.

What with that and starting a family, I guess the time just wasnt right for her to tour. All the same its been interesting watching her learn how to put on a show and perform again. The Drowned World show was cold, badly thought out and pretty boring IMO. She was definitely trying to find her feet, and didnt look comfortable or like she was enjoying it. Reinvention was different - you could tell she was having fun there, and i think she got such a buzz from the response she got to that tour its re-ignited her passion for touring. The Confessions tour looked like she was enjoying herself more than ever.

I think shes learned what her limitations are, and where she's prone to her excesses too, and shes managed to shape her shows to suit hers and the audiences needs. At this rate, any tour in 2008 will be her best yet. She'll be 50 too, what a way to celebrate.

Definitely, I've seen the pics!! Judging by the few pics I saw, even in Moscow the spacing was normal. Has anyone heard of this happening before at a Japanese concert? I hope we eventually get an explanation, as it makes no sense to me.

You can see why she got off the stage and walked around on the floor a bit, in order to get up close to at least a few fans!

I heard that she was really pissed about this.At one point, she even started singing the old Carole King classic "So Far Away"...

nod all around! Yeah, she's definitely loosened up onstage. It's still a highly structured show, but at least there's a little room for spontaniety...interacting with the fans, letting people sing in the mic, etc. And silly crazy guitar solos! lol

I wonder if next time she'll move a little farther from the "big show" approach toward more of a conventional concert? Or does everyone expect the former, to the point they won't accept the latter? hmmm

So maybe a new album late next year, tour the following summer, much like the COADF schedule?

Next time around, though, she seriously needs to play the cities and countries that she neglected on the last two tours. It's absurd that she didn't even play her hometown (Detroit!) on Re-Invention or Confessions. And I feel so sorry for the fans in Australia,a country she hasn't played since 1993 disbelief

Yeah, that seems to be her schedule these days. She heads back to the studio in January to start recording songs. She's gonna do a track with Lenny Kravitz, and a possible duet with Mary J.Blige.There's also talk of her writing a song with Cyndi Lauper.

Yes, I also read about that on one of the fan sites, that was at one of the Osaka shows. I guess if she tours again while I'm still living here, I'll just go back to the States or somewhere else to see her! wink

I never look on the forums on the Madge sites...wonder if there's any serious complaining about this?
