This is AWFUL!!!!! I'm not a hater. I was praying that she would come back hard, but I have to say I actually think DAMITA JO had better songs. This is trying WAY TOO HARD. It doesn't sound like her at all. The only track that does is "ENJOY" Old-school Janet. On this, her voice is way up front and it's quite weak. The beautiful thing about her sound is that, though she's always been a weak singer, Jam/Lewis were able to really make something gorgeous out of it with layering, etc. It became her trademark, and I didn't mind that. But here, (and I know they are only 30 second samples) that trademark sound is nowhere to be found. Too bad. All that publicity for nothing.

"Take Care" and "Love 2 Love" sound interesting. Everything else I heard (most of the rest) were weak.
Looks like I won't be buying this one, either.

Im not a Janet person, but i dont think anyone can draw a negative or positive from these samples. The Most Important Thing In Life Is Sincerity....Once You Can Fake That, You Can Fake Anything.

I'm gonna wait until the album is released before I hear anymore samples or leaks. Early reports (fanclubs, etc.) are showing that this maybe her best album since Velvet Rope.

Am I the only one who finds even Janet's smile quite irritating? It seems like it's just another part of the routine; line dancing, sex talk, "cute" smile. I put that "cute" in inverted commas, because I get the impression she thinks it's very endearing, but actually it just seems like another example of her disingenuousness (the major crime of all today's pop tarts). It just screams "Like me! Please!". I noticed her using it in the COM vid too and it seemed a bit like just an old habit she's never really questioned. I don't think there's any real joy behind it.

I sorta of agree but I love her natural smile you can tell the difference when she's actually happy from a photographer telling her too then it looks really forced. [Edited 9/15/06 9:10am] [Edited 9/15/06 9:12am]

[Edited 9/15/06 8:47am] Yep those are pretty much my thoughts in a nutshell I heard the 13 minute mix tape with the dwarf rapping his sales pitch over and over and it's nowhere near Velvet Rope.

I am just so bored of this chick. Her best music was the Early days I did love the Janet album tho. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

I was listening to Control the other day and I have to say that's her best. Control, RN, and Janet are all top notch. I didn't "get" the Velevet Rope like so many did. But it's still a good album. All for You and Damita Jo have their star tracks but a lot of throwaway. I think that's how this album will be too.
