I agree that most mainstream music is crap, but I love a lot of new music that is not played on the places you listed...except maybe Myspace.

I guess it all depends on what type of genre you're into as well.

Your loss. I think the Rock Star series is the best possible way for those guys to find a lead singer, and it's an awesome way for unsigned artists to promote themselves and their material. The final 6 contestants all had amazing original music. Who gives a fuck if they were on reality TV? Makes no difference to how talented they are and how good their music is.

Somebody suggested Alice Smith a few weeks ago, I'm glad I gave it a listen. I've only put it on once but I can tell it's gonna really grow on me nod

I like funk and there is no new funk anywhere. Even the old funk groups releasing new albums have sold out to shit hop.

It ain't new, but I definitely recommend buying a Love album..."Da Capo" or "Forever Changes"

If funk and soul with a modern twist is what you're after, try DJ Spinna's new Intergalactic Soul project. It features N'Dea Davenport among others, and it is by far the best CD I've heard this year to date.
