Jackie Wilson (The Man That Help Influenced "The King"/Joe Tex/Wilson Pickett/Otis Redding: True R&B Showmen

Hey, since we're giving all of this props to "THE KING OF ROCK AND ROLL", why don't we honor these soul brothers? Each one of these singers were unique and had a strong stage presence. Michael Jackson said in his autobiography that he tried to learn every thing he could from Jackie, he would go into "sponge mode" soaking up the knowledge and stage greatness of Mr. Wilson. Jackie had it all: the looks, the moves ,the voice, the charm, the charisma. He would drive women in a frantic frenzy with these skills. Ladies and gentlemen... this is the man who influenced Elvis in a BIG way.

Joe Tex used to put on an exciting stage show as well. Remember when he perfomed "Ain't Gonna Bump No More(With A Big Fat Woman)" on Soul Train and a big fat woman came up on the stage and started doing the bump with Joe on the stage and started he started hoping and grabbing his hip like he was in dire pain...(LOL). Now that was a classic tv Soul Train moment. One you can NEVER forget. Check the long version of that disco/r&b classic song for some serious dance floor action. Also "I Gotcha" was a classic R&B soul track. Joe was a great storyteller too and he would often weave story lines around his vocals.

Wilson Pickett was a true soul vocalist. I loved the urgency in his voice and in is singing. You always felt what he was singing. "Don't Let The Green Grass Fool You" is a soul classic. When it came to screaming no one cold scream(with the exception of maybe James Brown) like Wilson could. He was an obvious influence on LIL MAN in this way.He could also put on a stage show to behold.

And then you had Otis. A man whom like Pickett had such a yearning and sense of urgency in his voice, that you are caught into every lyric, every word he sung. Once that voice hit you, your ears belong to him. Stevie Wonder once said that Otis's voice was so captivating and sincere, that you actually find yourself wanting to give him whatever he is asking for. Stevie then said jokingly" if he is singing about some woman that won't give him no lovin, you'll find yourself saying...Woman please give that man what he wants so he'll stop pleading and begging"...(LOL). All of his albums are worth hearing for that sincere penetrating voice alone. He scored his first number # 1 hit sadly enough after his death. His plane went down and crahsed. A few members of the legendary group the Barkays were on that plane as well. There are some conspiracy theories out there too about that plane going down. That number one hit he had was called "Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay".

yo m-maxx whassup bro?
i just read a book on jackie called "the black elvis"
its sad...and thrilling. yes elvis and he dug each other
to death. they were buddies. elvis was trying to convince
jackie to do movies like him...but jackie didn't have
a chance due to his skin color (imagine him in purple rain-
as prince's character...oh man...!)

"reet petite is jackie emulating elvis!"

charles ;there's no pity in the naked city"
