Steve Arrington & his Hall Of Fame

So, I just recently completed my Steve Arrington/Steve Arrington's Hall Of Fame collection and since I haven't created a new thread in a while I figured I'd create one dedicated to Steve, one of my favorite vocalists. What do y'all think of Steve? Do you like his Slave stuff better than his solo stuff? What is your favorite Steve Arrington album? What are your favorite Steve Arrington tracks?
My favorite album Steve did with Slave is Stone Jam. Hell, it's one of the best albums by anyone. Ever.
My favorite Steve Arrington/Steve Arrington's Hall Of Fame albums are Steve Arrington's Hall Of Fame I and Positive Power. I also like Dancin' In The Key Of Life but it has a weak-ish B-side so confused
My fav tracks are Speak With Your Body, Weak At The Knees, Feel So Real, Dancin' In The Key Of Life, Stone Love, 15 Rounds, Young & Ready and She Just Don't Know... oh and every track on Stone Jam smile

The only album I dislike is Jammin National Anthem.

It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

Personally i like his slave stuff better but his first solo
album was classic. I hadn't heard much of his solo stuff beyond
that but would be pretty interested. I from just reading the liner
notes on slave's best of that steve had a higher calling and started
doing pre sounds of blackness inspirational music on dancing in the
key of life. I dug that song but really wasn't crazy about feel so
real. His first solo album bought the funk. Don't know if he continued
to funk beyound dancing in the key of life. Do know he eventually
became a minister. Also know that there is probably no chance he will
ever reunite with slave.

Agree 100% The Hall of Fame album is a funk classic! On the others he moved away from the funk bass and replaced it with a synth bass which IMO just didn't sound as funky. Dancin' in The Key of Life was alright but no where near the crazy shit of Hall of Fame or Slave's greatest. Also important to note around this time he bacame a born again christian which seemed to have an effect on the message/style of his music----like someone else we all know and love!

When Steve Arrington joined Slave he was the voice that they were sorely lacking to set their brand of funk apart. Drac was alwyas there but when Steve took over the lead vocals Slave took off.

Steve did for Slave what J.T> did for Kool & The Gang

Wow thinking back Steve's voice and vocal style was kinda unique. Steve was one those artist at first listen become's a favorite vocalist, for me simply because he was holdin' down the funk with soul. I dig both, the solo career and with slave. Slave was raw funk, Steve's solo stuff was more refined.. but funk. Steve probably went into the studio with a concept, and Slave just went in 1-2-3-Bamm! 2-3-4-Bamm! you know..just jamming and coming up with ideas, lyrics & hooks on the fly. My favorite Steve Arrington lp is without a doubt Hall Of Fame I, from the time the needle drop til the end.SAHOF Positive Power: 15 rounds, Money On It, Sugar Momma Baby, Young And Ready, Mellow As A Cello, Positive Power. The Jam Pack Lp, Stone Love ( i actually found a video for this groove) hmmm and i think Let It Loose. The DITKOL lp the Title song and Feel So Real. JNA disbelief

lol pretty much everyone in MNP (that dig funk) list Stone Jam as their top Slave lp, well eXecpt me. Just like the Laker's it's "SHOWTIME" for me.... from the time the needle drop.. "Oh"...y'all don't hear me. Snap Shot...Awwwww. Party Lites, Spice of Life(OYYTB) "spice of my life sugar..baby, oh yes your the best, i'm gonna hold on ti-ee-i-ight..baby, oh yes your the best". Smokin, Wait For Me, Steal Your Heart, For The Love Of You, Funken Town.

SICK. Snapshot,Baby wait for me, Party lites. Damn man you gonna make me
break down and go to amazon and order this. I listen to it on vinyl quite
often. Showtime is one of my top 10 funk albums of all time. headbang
