A cursory browse through the top 101 guitar solos thread showed little love for Rory g. Surely an oversight?

To remind and inform people, Rory Gallagher is one of the best and most underrated blues guitarists ever. He influenced the lives and playing of many, including:
Slash from Guns etc.. "One of the al-time great guitar players. Playing with him in LA was one of my biggest thrills ever."
The Edge from U2 "A beautiful man and an amazing guitar player."
Jimmy Page "Rory's death really upset me. He was such a nice guy and a great player."
Johnny Marr of The Smiths, Brian May of Queen and Gary Moore, who often agreed to play for Thin Lizzy.
He played with Muddy Waters and was shortlisted to replace Mick Taylor in The Rolling Stones and it is widely believed that he turned them down.

His deceptively simple style masked a genius and technical ability that was truely singular. Any blues guitar fans would do well to take time out to make room for his music in their lives.

I saw him live way back in the day. He opened for someone, but I can't remember who it was. I do remember he played on both Box of Frogs albums in the mid-80's, with Jeff Beck on the first album and Jimmy Page on the second album (i think that's right, anyway). I think he did some stuff with Muddy Waters, as well.
