umm, just because she is from the suburbs doesnt mean she doesnt carry a "hood" accent...

my youngest sister was an honor roll student, went to private school and all out of know where she started talking like she was from the street...this happened in high school and she hasnt stopped...she is now 26.

so, before you start throwing out accusations about folks around here why dont you ask first...

well...I think Beyonce is talented...you just may not like her. I think there is a difference. She can sing.

As much as the child works my nerves, I actually think she the one that will have longevity. Yes, I said it.

I watched her on the Fashion Rocks show and I was actually a little entertained but it could have been because she didn't roll around on the floor and I think she took some of the weave out.

She's never been the best at public speaking just like MJB. Mary J has improved and I think Beyonce has gotten better. I think we hear more of a texan thing vs "hood". (I think eek)

She does need to kill the Janet Jackson thing. When my kid said, "isn't that the rhythm nation dance" I was like...oh damn...beyonce is in trouble with this look.

and yes...its just the view.

Beyonce has never sounded "hood" to me (whatever that might mean)...I've heard her sound country as hell, though.

And let me be the third or fourth to comment that, uh, yeah, it wasn't CNN you were watching, sos... lol

it was still wrong...the producers of the show...or joe jackson...oopsies, i mean beyonce's dad should have stepped in and recommended either a change of song or moving the performance till a couple segments later...it was totally inappropriate.

I hear you on that piece. I think it was in extremely bad taste, especially following Rosie's story that you described. Unfortunate to be sure.

I'm not a fan of Beyonce at all, but I really don't see how it was inappropriate. Yes, we all felt a great sense of loss on 9/11, but how does it help anyone to outlaw having fun, living life, dancing to an uptempo song, and God forbid being sexual on the anniversary. That won't bring anyone back. We all have to go on living and be grateful we are still alive, and part of that is having fun, and not walking around being somber and depressed the whole day.

I agree with most of what you say except for the bit about the way she speaks. She's not the brightest girl, but I see nothing wrong with her accent. She's from Texas and if there's some slight ghetto affectations in her voice; so what? You might as well attack half the kids in America (and England for that matter).

biggrin I thought you might say that. That's more an indictment of the times though than of Beyonce specifically. You can't expect someone as average as Beyonce to buck the trend. If the Supremes were around today they'd be talking the same way. They had charm lessons to teach them to act more refined. There was a lot more affectation going on with them than there is with Beyonce.

I saw Miss B on Friday at Macy's while she was signing autographs and promoting B'Day and there is no doubt she's country. She didn't come off as ghetto at all but she's a country bumpkin. lol That accent was easy to find but she seems very nice and she has a beautiful smile.

I thought the sirens were kind of awkward too...but I gotta say I totally enjoy the VIEW now!

I'm a huge Rosie fan and she's brought a great new energy to the show. Baba Wawa did seem pissed last week....and as of today it seems the honeymoon between Right Wing Elizabeth and Left Wing Rosie is officially over as they argued over Bush's 9/11 Anniversary address.

Go Rosie.....EAT SOME HASSELBACK FOR BREAKFAST!!!!!

Some fun facts about the show..

--Rosie says they took 3 inches off her 'Hot Topics' chair so that she wouldnt be so much taller than the others

--Her couch chair as been altered so that she can face the panel...she was very uncomfortable first couple days saying she couldnt 'see the guest'.

peace

Why the hell did The View cast her to perform on the 5th anniversary of 9/11?

So, I totally vowed to give up watching The View after Meredith left but I must admit that the first week with Rosie has been a fun train wreak so I started watching it again...And then todays show happened.

First off, the chemistry between the four ladies finally clicked. They each shared their memories of 9/11 in touching and sincere fashions...They then went to a commercial break showing Rosie's art work depecting various images from 9/11...almost had me in tears.

One of the most touching moments of their morning chat was with Rosie remembering how haunting and chilling it was to hear sirens around New York the first few weeks after 9/11.

and then Beyonce came out. eek

She performed her usual hoochie dance with fifty backup dancers doing their best Janet knock off...

with a FREAKEN SIREN playing during the entire song. WTF? all I could think about was how tacky this sh*t was...why didnt the producers of the show realize this might not be the best day to have Janet...ooops Beyonce on the show...

and whats up with Beyonce winning 9 Grammy awards? Teena Marie has zero and this weave wearing horse warbling b*tch has 9?

damn, i think im need to stop watching this show again.

lol

i know ur joking, but this is a wee bit conservative to say the least ? Which is cool if u swing that way. But damn.

Y'all hate on that girl so much that if she came out in a red white and blue suit and sang the fucking star spangled banner you'd all be like "look at this bitch tryna capitalize on a national tragedy!!"

what thee fuck ever. the song has a siren sound in it. not the sound of skyscrapers falling to the ground. they coulda cancelled her performance or postponed it if they thought it was going to be a problem.
She's from Texas. She has a southern accent. not an 'illiterate' accent. I guess if she sounded like she was from jersey or nyc she'd be any easier for y'all to listen to? I mean easier for youzz to listen to.
i'm not even a Beyonce fan but I can give her her due. She can sing. She has a rocking bod. I ain't even see the performance. But good goddamn. you people round here are too much.

I agree with the point about her diction. She's not "hood" at all, but the poor chile is COUNTRY AS HELL. Even southerners when they speack in dialect, have a standardized diction, and then what my mom calls "BAMA" diction (she being a proud daughter Alabama)...the latter form makes you sound like you've never been outside of a swamp and have a pice of hay still stuck in your mouth from when you were using it as a toothpick wink

it's an "I'm from Texas, but I am trying not to sound like it" accent.

some of us just succeed in it better than beyonce.

Lets be honest she is a ROBOT!! She was raised like some no-opinion having/ no-life having retard.

you tell by the look in her eyes, she has no clue what is going on. She was raised to do what she is doing. Just like those crazy sport parents who raise their kids from birth to be a athlete or musican.

she is the poster child of using their kids to get famous. Forcing them to dance & sing at the age of like what 3 eek

Some of y'all need to lighten up with the PC stuff. Celebrities were made to be goofed on, especially today's so-called "singers". To me, they're nothing but honey-colored airhead bimbos/himbos wailing over beats I heard in high school/college. Only in America can folks with little to no talent be set for life.

I'm far from a member of the PC police...Shit, people can hate on Beyonce all they want...Hell, I've had my problems with the chick...But what you just said was an opinion that I can respect...Your comments have more to do with her music than whether or not she talks like she's from the "hood"...There is a difference between your criticism and our distinguished moderator ...Personally, I think this hate for Beyonce is getting kind of tired...She's now become the whipping girl for everything wrong with R&B...But here's a little advice: You guys should try targeting someone who really deserves the hate. Like Cassie....
