I LOVE LOVE LOVE Shirley Murdock!

THere used to be 2 versions of "As We Lay" they played on Kiss FM in NYC back in the 80s

Never knew she was part of Zapp family.

She looks so much better with dark hair!
I always kind of remembered her as heavy but she's really not! that is so weird.

She's beautiful. She looks amazing in the "In Your Eyes" video. IS she younger there or does the red hair of the "As We Lay" era just not go well with her.I

I just read her Q&A and this quote really stood out (if only more people understood this, how much better would our planet be??):

Q:What was the most confusing thing anyone ever tried to explain to you?
A:I don’t really know if this is something anyone’s tried to explain to me, but I don’t understand racism. I don’t understand why people can be so upset with each other because they look different. A rose is a rose is a rose, whether it’s a red rose, a pink rose, a yellow rose or whatever; it’s still a rose. We’re all human beings, we’re all the same race — the human race. I heard a preacher say one time that "All of us ain’t nothin’ but dirt. There’s red dirt, there’s brown dirt, there’s black dirt, there’s yellow dirt, and we all came from the dirt." I could put my kidney in somebody else that’s not necessarily African American and it would function, so I don’t know why we’re trippin’ over all of this. So if somebody could explain that one to me!

You know I also thought she was much heavier. You could be right about the red hair making her seem older too. She looks beautiful in that current picture.

Please tell me your thoughts on her first cd. Which tracks do you like? Truth or Dare is the bomb! That shit is hot. I love when she speaks in french. It's very Prince to me. Great album all around though.

I know what you mean about the last slow jam. I'm not crazy about it either. The other 2 are nice and I love all the fast tracks.

I only have her greatest hits and the two songs I mentioned are the main ones I listen to. My favorite is "No More".....

I picked up the telephone and dialed your number two or three times
I need your tender touch to satisfy what's on my mind

Pick up (pick up) the phone (the phone)
Pick up (pick up) the phone (the phone)
IIIII don't....
I don't wanna be alone

Come on baby (come on baby)
Are you gonna satisfy me or what
Pick up the line!
