Gladys Knight & The Pips: "Claudine" soundtrack

This is one of my favorite soundtracks...

My favorite song is the beautiful "To be invisible" worship

"I`ll be invisible
That way i won`t have to explain a thing
if you know what i mean
I won`t even have to be here on the scene"

I haven`t heard his. In fact, i`m not that familiar with his music, i only know this soundtrack, and Aretha`s "Sparkle", which i LOVE, and i have the tribute album, where Whitney Houston sings "Look into your heart"

This is my fave movie soundtrack of all time - every song seemed to fit the movie. It wasn't just some mish-mash of songs thrown together with no relevance to the movie, unlike most of today's movie soundtracks...

One of my favorite movies and soundtracks. Like JesseDezz said, the music fits the movie perfectly. I was excited when I learned they'd reissue the cd in '99, and then the movie was released on dvd just a few years ago. I'm tempted to say this is Gladys' best moment.

I nearly picked this up recently, saw a copy in the Times Square NY Virgin Store. I wanted to hear samples first but couldn't, so I didn't.

I've never watched that movie boxed Ma loves it tho.

Love Diahann Carroll, but I haven't checked it out. Fimiliar with the soundtrack tho.

BTW Didn't Gladys starred in a movie in the mid-70's too? Maybe I'm mistaken here but fill me in, never the less.

Love Gladys! She WAS in a movie in the 70's, her movie debut, I believe. It was called "Pipe Dreams" and was something about the Alaska pipeline. It was directed by her then-husband, Barry Hankerson, father of her youngest child. I don't remember seeing it. I do remember hearing that she was good, but the movie was pretty bad.

"Pipe Dreams" used to be shown regularly on our local tv station back in the '80's. It was mainly a time-filler, 'cause the movie was pretty bad...

I have this CD and it's good, but you know what? I wish there was a seperate soundtrack that featured the characters in the movie.Aretha's album is nice, but since her songs are not heard in the film at all,it doesn't really feel like a genuine "soundtrack".

"Hooked on your love" is my favorite from the album, i LOVE Aretha`s version, would have been fun to hear Irene cara (and the other girls) sing it though...

Some of the songs are in the movie but the cast did the vocals. Same songs just over dubbed, I remember giving him something he could feel, but I haven't seen Sparkle in a long time. Heres a clip.

BOOOOO!!!
HISSSS!!!!
Sparkle is a very good movie. lonnette mckee, irene cara and philip michael thomas did well with what they had to work with. having aretha sing all the songs instead of the original singers in the movie was a bad move to me. yeah you got the star power of ree-ree, but the spirit of the movie was lost imho. kinda like having michael jackson interpret all the songs from purple rain and never releasing the prince versions even though they were the driving force of the movie.

AND...it's on TV ONE right now!!! tues 9/12 noon-2 pm smile

Hell, I still do it....No police man can have the nerve to tell me that I cannot disipline my daughter. That's what's wrong with the world today, if you asked me.

I've seen this movie once when I was kid...that's all that I remember. Her mama gave it to her good!
In 1989, I met that actress on the set of "Dark Holiday". I was an extra in the
film and she was the 1st asst director. I was about to ask her, were'nt you in a movie and your mama beat you with a brush?? Instead, I asked her was she on Good Times and she said, yeah! cool
