just recently i had to pleasure to pick up both nico's chelsea's girl and the marble index. my bloody god do these records blow bauhaus and siouxsie sioux or black tape for a blue girl out of the water.
the feel of the whole is very bleak,delicate,cold but it does NOT descend into a bombastic or cliche mood.
it slowly dwells, it literally feels like if your dying in this woman's beautiful voice...the instruments sorta combine a baroque feeling with a exp-rock feel to it.
i don't want to sound trite but these two albums and or nico's voice has to be one of the most whimiscal voices so far aside from Liz fraser,bjork,kate bush,tori amos

I Recommend these two albums for we are in a age of garbage artist and mediocore musicans:

Ah, someone else hipping themselves to the Morrissey influence

I absolutely love me some Nico and the "other-worldy" quality to her records. I've always felt that John Cale's instrumentation/production complemented her voice prefectly and in alot of ways I prefer her solo material to her stuff that featured on The Velvet Underground's first record.
I also highly recommend her other two finest records, "The End" (which sounds much more apocolyptic than The Marble Index) and Desertshore (which Morrissey used to have played on the PA before he'd enter the stage in back on the Maladjusted and YATQ tours).
