i can't speak for anyone else but i can tell you that i'm disappointed because i don't care to see janet "do" beyonce or mariah. i want janet to "do" janet. i like janet because of her style and not because she can do what everyone else is doing.

what i've heard so far, excluding enjoy, is just janet trying to fit in with the trends.

Janet has always been doing that so what's the difference . Rnb and stuff was very popular during the 90's so her albums was more rnb . During the late 90's pop was very popular so her all for you was pop. And now rnb and hiphop are very popular again so Janet's album have more of a hiphop flavor. I am glad changes up .
And I don't understand why people are acting like she's made god alwful songs now there far from it. I think you people just don't like Jermaine and are not giving it a chance. But a well.

Why can't people just not be impressed with her stuff right now? I just don't understand why it's such a big deal to say--Well...it's just not what I'm into right now---and I'm talking everything--the music, the image, her team-- everything.

It's really not a big deal if ya think about it. I'm sure she'll be just fine.

I really don't think she's always been trying to fit in with the trends. She lead the trends in her first big albums. And then seemed to moving forward with her own distinct persona on the Velvet Rope.

I personally feel that her passion and creativity have just slowly dissipated since that album. Not to say that she hasn't put out tracks that I've LOVED since then, but it just hasn't been as consistent.

That being said, I'm glad some folks are enjoying it! nod

oddly enough,I like the song "So Excited" boxed

it's much better than the boring song with Nelly "Call On Me".

sorry comfort

when I told Denny about this thread, he was all "JASON isn't impressed? we ain't buying then"

giggle

lol

yeah, i'm probably just gonna buy the good tracks off itunes and be over it all. i like call on me but only as background music while i'm doing something else. enjoy is the shit, for real, but i can buy it for .99 if its the only worthwhile track.

Except for Prince CDs, that's how I buy all my music now. Napster or itunes. Buying an entire CD just isn't worth it anymore and JJs new one seems to fall into that category too sad

just listened to "roll witchu." its ok. its nice. another slow jam. i also heard a clip of "do it to me." its ok. nothing special...maybe it has potential and just didn't hear enough of it...i don't know. i think i'm just being hopeful. eight songs into the new record, though, and not one song i've heard gets me looking forward to hearing stuff in the clubs.

i'm totally underwhelmed with this release. sad

from reading sassy's review,it seems that Janet simply made a run-of-the-mill,midtempo,sexy R&B album complete with hip-hop cameos and samples. These type of albums are a dime a dozen these days.Remove Janet's vocals and this could be the new CD from Ashanti or Ciara.By now, even Janet should be bored with this type of music, not to mention the whole sex kitten act.

nod

Maybe my expectations were too high. Roll Witchu is cute midtempo song. Take Care is another slow jam. Do It To You is uptempo and may have potential but not sure yet. Out of 11 songs the remaining 3 need to be outstanding to raise the bar here (Roll Witchu is a bonus track).
Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

For what it's worth, I've heard the sampler and it's frankly mediocre to outright dreadful. If these songs are supposed to be highlights the album'll be a blackout. Really piss poor so far, in fact. Makes Damita Jo seem like the Mona Lisa.

THis must be in the UK. They don't sell proper CD singles anymore. Not a lot anyway, and mostly those are maxis. The fact that her last CD didn't have any maxi release singles speaks volumes (and I doubt this one will either). Also, Janet and Nelly....yeah, that looks good for her debut single! THe marketing for DJ is starting to look good at this point....
[Edited 9/9/06 9:10am]

It might be for the UK but I may hit FYE and see if they have it since that's the only place I can find singles...

This is a US release...it was rushed out last week so the song could surge on Billboard.

There wasnt even a street date...it was manufactured and shipped out..limited quantities though...

I thought only American Idol artists can sell enough physical CD singles to raise their chart positions.

If that's the reason for this single, I don't think it will work.
