Is Van Hunt worth listening to? I've never seen a Van Hunt review with no mention/comparison to Prince. But is he really worth listening to? Does he sound like Prince? "You could say I'm a terminal case/You could burn up my clothes/Smash up my ride...well, maybe not the ride"

On The Jungle Floor is a must have...
I wouldn't say he sounds like Prince, but he is heavily influenced. Van Hunt's vocals aren't as strong. Much like Prince, Van Hunt covers a lot of ground, musically. Hot Stage Lights (Funk), Character (R&B), Ride, Ride, Ride (Rock), At The End Of A Slow Dance (Retro 80's) and Hole In My Heart (swing) not only cover the different genre's, but are all strong songs. Character is MY JAM! Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Co-sign with what Revolution said. I also want to add that his album is one of the year's best. Outstanding 2nd release! Priest or Police is my sleeper jam from On the Jungle Floor.

No. It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

He realsed the album of the year. so i'd say yes! and his live shows are greating better and better as they go, his band is really tight! i went to a show in boston, he even busted a full on "prince style" split. jumped into the crowd, did gutiar solo duet w/ his gutiar player. *which was sick* he can play! unlike what some may say.

Haaaa. But I would say give him a try. I used to think he was so pretentious. Even if you don't end up liking him he is still a heck of a lot better than a lot of crap out there. Thank You San Alejo for getting rid of my enemies. :-0
Thank You SO much Saint Expedite for your help Thank You Virgin de Guadalupe for helping my friend Thank You Saint Anthony for returning my wallet to me untouched

He's amazing. On The Jungle Floor is stronger than anything Prince has done since the 80s.
If Prince had come up with that album his doubters would be silenced in a second. By far, album of the year. Best album of the new millennium in fact.

I really like On the Jungle Floor, but I think it's slightly overrated here. It's not ALL that. But certainly very good, and worth a purchase. Especially if you're as good as me in finding cheap CDs and get it in mint condition for $3 on ebay.

Does it have to be either Prince, Marvin, Al green or Stevie? I am fed up with rip-offs.

Give him a try. You may like him. I myself prefer Rahsaan Patterson. Something about Van's voice styling annoys me.

Rahsaan is the man. I often wonder why he has NOT blown up..... Yeap, same thoughts here. Maybe it's the label he's signed into or perhaps it's his manager.

I don't get this guys career. He can sing with ANYONE that is on the seen today. So can Stokley from Mint Condition.

Love Van Hunt and his 1st album. Again, here is a guy I'm really loving but can not stand in the same league as Prince. It reconfirms how great Prince actually is/was.
I am happy to hear 'ride ride ride' off the new album however - like to see black guy do a bit of rock other then Lenny.I think he writes nice songs instead of beats.

...and, he's developing as a songwriter, he could be turning into one of the better ones of his generation.
You wanted to draw a picture... But your relationship could never hold a pose... You're left with a room full of sketches... That only hint at the love you wanted to know... THAT is my shit right there! Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol.
