 Nuh-uh!!!! It just so happends that when it came out I was so far gone into Prince that I ignored the sillness.
 I still have. I think it's brilliant. But apparently even Prince disagrees with me there. 
But seriously... ask quirky as Parade is at least the songs, while not what people were used to hearing from Prince up until that time, were complete songs. They didn't start out one way and then veer off into some other direction that had nothing to do with the theme of the movie or the rest of the album.

Let's not forget that the movie was made in 2004. They used songs from "SB/TLB" and a track or two from "Big Boi and Dre present Outkast". Had Idlewild been released when it was dpne, the soundtrack might have been different. Ok. But since the movie wasn't released until mid 2006 that suggests that they had two years to get the soundtrack together so that it fit with the theme of the movie or at least was cohesive.

There's no rule that says you can't like both, you know. Prince used to use synths all the time and people liked it.
