Come on, now. Timbaland isn't even in Danger Mouse's league. If you'd said Gnarls Barkley, I'd agree with you because DM and Cee-Lo are taking names. They're leaving OutKast in the dust, which is saying something.

As for Prince, to say that Eli Manning is a better quarterback than Joe Montana today is EASY. Montana isn't even in the game anymore. Besides, he's already in the Hall of Fame.

Why would anyone compare artists who are decades apart? It's like saying that in his hey day, P was doing better than James Brown.

It is a case of apples and oranges. Prince was trying to make a simple commercial pop soul album. He did that

Outkast was trying for some avante garde rap soundtrack.

But remember. Outkast and Timberlands' latest releases are deriviative "of Prince"

Now what does that tell you?

well, since most of prince's musc is derivative of stevie, marvin, james, parliament, and santana...do the math.

outkast wooping prince's ass
hahahahahahahaHHAHAHAHAHAHA

CAN OUTKAST MAKE MUSIC AS GOOD as the rainbow children, can they sing as good as prince or maybe play guitar like he can?!

their songs are not even real songs.they could never write great meaningful songs such as last december, purple rain, anna stasia, adore.

they are pushing the limitations of hip hop as a genre but that is no excuse to compere them to PRINCE.

prince's music is in totaly diffrent dimension from outkast music.
its like comparing jimi hendrix to monkeys (for those who dont know 1960-s pop band).

so fucking what if prince is near 50.there is still A LOT OF FIRE in his music and especialy live peformances.
he sings better then ever,he plays guitar better then ever,he gave us the best rendetion OF ANNA STACIA on 2002 one nite alone.

he gave us the rainbow chilren album in 2001(that wasnt so long ago) music and production wise his best effort ever.

this topic is pointless.it should be locked.

i disagree.. outkast's new album is a mess, imho. some cool sounds and ideas, but not enough good songs to make them work.

Co-sign. There are about three good songs on the new Outkast album. The rest of them start out promising or have qirky little riffs here and there and then veer off onto some unfocused silly bs. Idewilde is a clusterfuck of an album compared to their last three releases.

I've only heard the one song off of the JT and Timbaland album...eh. And that song he did with Nelly Furtado sounds like another one of those songs created just for commercials advertising cellphones, cars or something. Blah.

And even back in the day when he WAS, he did it better than a Timberland or Outkast supposedly doing better than Prince.

Now you know that is not true. I can list way more than three good songs without even looking at the tracklisting. Mutron Angel, Call The Law, Greatest show, Hollywood Divorce, The Train, Mighty O, Peaches, N2U...either you havent really listened to these songs are you don't know dope music. Saying only three songs out of the whole album is crazy.

Derivative my ass. Idlewild is very bluesy and in case some of you have forgotten Prince is NOT a blues artist and never was. As far as the funk funk goes, this record is far more a homage to Parliament and Funkadelic than Prince but maybe some of you don't know that. shrug Oh well. Derivative? Bullshit. You could say that about "The Love Below" (not Speakerboxx) but Idlewild ain't Prince-ish. Its messed up that any other artist who even admits to listening to a Prince record seems to forever be labeled a clone. Timbaland sounds like Prince? Y'all dun gone crazy up in here.

What are you smoking? Prince has never been as funky as James or Parliament, never been as soulful as Marvin or Stevie and as for Santana...well, I'll give you that one. Still, he was never "kicking their asses". He was more popular at one point. And he did kick ass, just not the asses you named. Again, Outkast and Timb are NOT doing "Prince". Half you mugs didn't know who Outkast was before The Love Below. Go back 5 CDs and listen.

Prince is a 50 year old man....shrug I don't expect to hear an outkast song come out of him....or something Timbaland would do.

You need to slow down hoss. Who said he was funkier than P-Funk and others? I said if anyone had claimed those things at the time he was hot then it would have went over better then saying Timbaland and Kast are whoopin Prince's ass. And yes some of us do know about Kast before "Stankonia" And yes, if anything , Andre was influenced by P Funk moreso then Prince back then but you can't tell me that in recent years he hasn't started trying to do some Prince inspired work. Hell the linn drumm used in Chronmetrophobia (yes blaqueknight I realize others can use the linn zzz) is Prince-ified so miss me with that constant denial of any Prince influnece. And same with Tim and JT who has went on record saying the record is Prince influneced. Some of you mugs think that everytime someone said someone is Prince influenced that they arent, so stop jumpin up and down on that mark. Not smoking anything but maybe you should.

First of all, that scripture from Ecclesiastes is always taken out of context when describing the lack of originality in the arts or in our culture. Read the verses before it and get the proper context.

Second of all - it's interesting that Prince's legacy has been reduced to comparisons with a hip hop group; albeit one of the best hip hop duos of all time. I know that the best Prince had to offer is so much more musically interesting and satisfying to me than the best OutKast produced. Plus on stage?...fuhgeddabout it - I've seen both live and Prince's stage performances exponentially crushes OutKast. But compare OutKast's merits with a more likely artist/group - y'all need to get off of this Prince vs. OutKast tip you've been on around here lately. The superlative associated with Prince are mind numbing.

When did Prince ever get labelled as being better than JB, Jimi, etc? When was it ever written that P was taking their place and whippin' their asses?

What other musician gets compared to rappers?

Which singer/musician's ass is Eminem whoppin'?

What about Jay Z?
