Shawnna is nice been peepin her since she was part of that duo Infamous Syndicate way before DTP...I just don't like the way she is being marketed. I am not African. Africa is in me, but I cannot return.
I am not taína. Taíno is in me, but there is no way back. I am not european. Europe lives in me, but I have no home there. I am new. History made me. My first language was spanglish. And I am

Yup. Hands down. If you're going on rawness and skills added to delivery, none of those chicks can fuck with Rage. Queen was headed that way but she got a TV show and she pretty much went mainstream with her lyrics at that point. Nikki D was also nice. Monie Love was nice until she actually dropped her album. Lauryn would've had this one sewn up if she didn't go apeshit, so by default I give my nod to MC Lyte.

I love that album! "Grampa's Party," "It's a Shame (My Sista)," "Monie in the Middle" "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

I love that album! "Grampa's Party," "It's a Shame (My Sista)," "Monie in the Middle" Yeah, but she came off so commerical and safe that it REALLY was a shame

Ok, heres the official breakdown and we can shut this thread down...LOL, just kiddin....
Hands down...MC Lyte is the best. Monnie Love was good lyrically but she basically had one style - and that was in fast motion, LOL> If Foxy Brown and Lil Kim didn't sell sex so much, and rap about parada and stupid shit like that - they would be taken more seriously. EVE is not a great female MC 2 say the least - she is overated, EVE has been blessed with great marketing and well produced songs and collabos. Queen Latifah is very good (she's in the top 5)- UNITY and Ladies First were excellemt rap tracks and classics in their own right. Yo Yo was a joke.....she could't rap to save her life...Ice Cube pushed her as far as he could. Although Lauryn Hill can sing - she can rap her ass off also...she can spit with the best of them - Top 5 for sure. U always come out on top as a women if you manage not to sell out or sell your soul to the devil - do positive music and still get airplay and respect from your peers. Lady of Rage is very talented but just couldn't make it commercialy. When I was really crazy about rap back in the early 90's....I thought Lady Of Rage would take out all of the female MC's...she was fire on Afro Puffs - her voice was so commanding. The rap industry really hates on women...Foxy Brown and others had 2 go the sex route to gain fame...but then U lose respect...so it's like a catch 22 situation. Remy Ma and Ra Digga....shit, I don't know....there not better than the ones I just mentioned - and their lyrics and subject matter r just tired. Remy shows some potential but she's not groundbreaking or anything - dont really know where to place them? Ok, there U have it! The GOAT has spoken.

Da Brat Roxanne Shante Salt N Pepa Angie Martinez MC Lyte Boss (Even though she had only one album to my knowledge) Lady of Rage Man I can remember getting clowned in the barbershop around 93 when I stated that Lady of Rage couldn't touch Boss on the mic. My boy Oogie led the rebellion but I stood alone reppin' Boss and not swaying as about 20 fools was lettin' me have it. One of my all-time great barbershop arguments! When you're up against a trouble meet it squarely face to face. Lift your chin, set your shoulders, plant your feet and take a brace.
