That might be interesting. I wonder if it will even come out here....Her popularity has died into being just plain noitrious now (up there with Whitney). She seems to have kept a lot of her popuarity in the UK and Europe with dance remixes here and there.
I just noticed that she has a new "Defintive Collection" set coming out. For a one disc set, it's pretty good. No Sumpremes songs for once (I figure you should buy a proper Sumpremes set and there are enough out there). It's a basic Motown cash in but it looks pretty good and includes a nice smattering of RCA hits (I don't see anything after her RCA years, though, which is kind of disapointing).

From Amazon:

1. I'm Coming Out
2. Love Hangover
3. Missing You
4. Mirror, Mirror
5. Touch Me in the Morning
6. Upside Down
7. Muscles
8. Why Do Fools Fall in Love
9. Reach Out and Touch (Somebody's Hand)
10. Good Morning Heartache
11. Last Time I Saw Him
12. My Mistake (Was to Love You)
13. It's My Turn
14. Ain't No Mountain High Enough
15. Boss
16. Swept Away
17. Theme from Mahogany (Do You Know Where You're Going To)
18. Endless Love
19. What a Difference a Day Makes
20. Remember Me

From Dick`s Diana Ross website:

EMI IS RELEASING THE NEW ALBUM FROM DIANA ENTITLED "I LOVE YOU" ON OCTOBER 2, 2006. THE ALBUM WILL BE RELEASED VIA ANGEL RECORDS ON THE EMI LABEL ANGEL MUSIC GROUP AND THE ANGEL LABEL IS PART OF EMI MUSIC. EMI HAVE RIGHTS TO RELEASE THIS ALBUM WORLDWIDE, EXCLUDING NORTH AMERICA. THEREFORE, IT LOOKS LIKE IT WILL BE AN IMPORT FOR US FANS IN THE UNITED STATES AND CANADA. NO PROBLEM. STAY TUNED FOR UPDATES ON DIANA'S LONG-AWAITED STUDIO ALBUM.

I wonder who involved she is with these greatest hits sets. I mean, the Defivintive collection is one of those titles that has been released for several artists that I've seen (all R&B artists). Is she still part owner of Motown? That's pretty crazy that her new album might not get a US release...Very sad.

I don`t know if she`s a part-owner, she left the label in 2002, so perhaps not...

I wonder if she`s more popular in Europe, but still, she could have sold more albums if there had been a US release too....

It seems like the right time to release a new album, her duet with Rod Stewart
and especially the (awful) duet with Westlife, and not to mention "Blue", created some interest in her again, so i think people will be very curious about this release (and the new tour), i just hope it turns out to be a good album, she`s certainly taken her time....

Something tells me the album will be releaed here...months, maybe years later, though and it won't make any chart impact. I do agree, "Blue" helped to create some buzz and I've heard the Rod Stewart duet once or twice.

That's not a bad compilation at all.I might get it.I don't need any Supremes stuff since I already have the 2-CD "Gold" set.The one thing that would make this a perfect set is if they took the last two songs out and instead gave us "Telephone" (her underrated 1985 single) and "I'm Still Waiting".Hopefully, the version of "Endless Love" is the one with Lionel Richie and not the lame solo version!

It`s a little different from the Richie duet, i think of it as a demo version of the duet... lol That`s what it sounds like!

I`m tired of "Endless love", i think everyone knows the words to that song...
The other Ross/Richie duet, "Dreaming of you" is a great track, i don`t think it was released as a single hmmm

Pretty much. She released this version on her 1981 album 'Why Do Fools Fall In Love'.I was mad when Diana recorded a solo version. This song is meant to be sung as a duet, and I think it was a slap in the face to Lionel.

I don't know about that....I think it was a way of including a hit song on a new album without having to create a new hit...I'm sure if possible, she would have included the hit duet verison, released by Motown. Kind of cleaver on her or the record companies part. I just noticed recently that Loinel wrote one of my favorite Diana tracks, "Missing You". So I don't think there is/was bad blood over it.

I recall a minor controversy back in early 1982 when she and Lionel performed the song on some Awards show (I think it was the Oscars?).He was singing the song to her,but she was singing to the cameras! He was facing her, singing the lyrics directly to her and acting all passionate, but she barely looked at him...lol...this was just Diana being Diana and I'm sure Lionel knew what to expect.Yes,he did write "Missing You" for her. That's one of her best songs of the 80s,imo.

It's funny because Meatloaf kinda critcized that Katherine McPhee chick for singing to the camreas when it was supposed to be a love song....I think he said it was ameaturish or something. And I would argue "Missing You" is possibly her best ballad. Songs like "Ain't No Mountain" (her verison, anyway) are a bit too much.

Is that definately going to be the cover....I like it a lot.

I just bought her "Definitive Collection". The order of the songs is pretty terrible (like it was all mixed up. It shouldn't mix the ballads and upbeat songs so much..."The Boss" and "Swept Away" are thrown into the middle of big ballads like "Ain't No Mountian High Enough" and "The Theme From Mahagony"). Still very good and worth extra dough I paid (it was $14.99...meanwhile Amazon sells it for $9.99!).

Yeah, great cover nod
I liked the way they arranged the tracks on the compilation "Love and life", with the first cd, containing the uptempo songs, called "life", and the ballads on the second disc, called "love"...

Speaking of "Ain`t no mountain high enough", i`ve never really liked her version, probably because i LOVE the original, but now i`ve listened a lot to it again, and it isn`t that bad....
