Michael Jackson: "Lady in My Life"

Did you ever notice in this song that when Michael Jackson sings, "Girl I love you more each day", it sounds like he's singing, "Girl I love you Morris Day?" I swear, that's what it sounds like he's singing. It's like he's professing his love for Morris in a song. falloff falloff I just heard this song on the radio today, and noticed the same thing. It cracks me up when Michael sings this part of the song, I can't help but giggle. giggle

I used to listen to this one endlessly. Love it. I can't believe I found him believable singing a ballad at one point in time. He was beautiful back then.

Back in 1983,our local R&B station had alot of fun with that part of the song. One of the DJs once played it continuously, over and over lol it's funny though, there are alot of songs that feature the line "more each day",lol

There are a series of ballads that Michael has sang in the past that sounded so sincere and evoke so much emotion. I can't imagine him singing those songs now, simply because he probably couldn't even if he tried evoke the same emotion; "The Lady in mY life", "All I do", "Even though She's gone", "Find me a Girl".

I can't imagine Michael singing any of the above now, the way he sang them back them.

It's Even Though YOU'RE Gone.

I can't stand Find Me A Girl, it's so generic. I much prefer the Destiny & Triumph ballads 'Bless His Soul', 'Push Me Away' and 'Time Waits For No-one'.

Yeah, MJ does kinda slur his words. In the song "Butterflies" he sings, "And all you got ta do", instead of "And all you got to do". lol

Ellie, I also love those songs that you listed. Howver, "Butterflies" STILL gives me goosebumps. I also love "Break Of Dawn", "Heaven Can Wait" and "Whatever Happens". All of these songs are fairly recent and he still sounds great. If Michael would completely let himself go, I KNOW that he still has the same soul and emotion that he has always have. I truly pray that he does NOT do a pop album when he makes his comeback. R&B radio embraced Invincible like they have never done before and will do so again if he makes a soulful album. Hopefully, he knows and realizes that it will be R&B radio who will support him and not pop radio. They won't give him a chance, no matter how good the album is and that is a shame.

I have listened to this song HUNDREDS of times and I have never heard what you have heard. There is NO ONE who could sing "Lady In My Life" with the passion that MJ does. This song "drips with sex". Sorry, if that sounds crass, but the way that he makes his voice "quiver" in that song is just sexiness/sex personified.
