Im still getting into it. I like the fact that they are going a little farther out there with the instrumentation. So far my only gripe( of course i have one)is that they still sound like a band thats playing samples. I wish they would just let the fuck loose and paint some soundscapes for Thought to rhyme to. That being said, Im trying to accept the music for what it is, and not what I want it to be. So far I like it a hell of a lot more that "Phrenology".
A happy face, A Thumpin Bass, For A Lovin' Race. PEACE.

Listened to the samples on allmusic.com. Sounds fantastic, got to get this soon. BTW, can anyone say anything about their live DVD?

Yup I got it. It's way better than their last two albums. I can really feel Black Thought and his flow, not that I couldn't before, but it just feels like he pushed himself a little further this go round. Plus ?uestlove out did himself on the percussion!!
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

This album is incredible. I have all of their albums and this one is BY FAR their greatest. It won't play in the clubs on on radio (even though "Here I Come" should), but it is a masterpiece nonetheless.

I hate that The Roots aren't appreciated as much as they should be. Black Thought is one of the greatest MC's of all time. Top ten in my book.

I like this one. Quest leaked it early and I have been jamming this for a few months. Phrenology is my personal favorite but this one is very tight. My favorite track is Long Time, I can't stop playing that one.

because they go against the grain of what corporations want right now. they aren't talking about their "grim" drug dealing past, they don't talk about how many bentley's they bought this year, or when they got their grillz made.

they are above all of that bullshit that is at the top of the charts concerning hip hop nowdays.

to me, and i think to them as well, it isn't really important that they are recognized so much by the media, the wack awards shows, etc...just as long as their fans love them and recognize them, then thats enough. to me, i feel special just knowing that they even exist as a band and that i'm familiar with their music. biggrin

The Roots are always tight!I never hear people mention them when they talk about the greatest rap groups/artists of all time. That is beyond ridiculous!Tribe and Outkast, deservedly, always get mentioned, but never The Roots.I just don't get that.
