i remember i liked menace 2 society cause it was more graphic then boyz in the hood...(i was 12 so lol). i think menace is more blunt and to the point then heartfelt like boyz in the hood.

Essence

Menace is more sensationalistic yeah while Boyz N The Hood gives more time to character development.

Both are good (as is Juice like Vashti said) but I'll take Boyz if pushed for overall impact.

"Boyz N' The Hood" was more dramatic, catered 2 the character development more so than "Menace II Society".

Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Ice Cube were incredible...and props 2 a very young director John Singleton 4 making it real.

John Singleton went on 2 become the first black director, and the youngest director 2 b nominated 4 an Academy Award 4 direction.

He later directed Michael Jackson's "Remember The Time" video...it jammed 2.

OOOH, maaan ... Boyz N the Hood was POWERFUL - the message, the characters ... it all gelled 2gether.
I remember that movie being shown in like 3 theaters in a (Perth Amboy) N.J. multiplex at the time. Each one was sold out for a couple of dayz ... the line was RIDICULOUS. I couldn't understand it 'til I saw the movie.
I cried like a baby at the end. That's what a film is supposed 2 do, when done right ... make u walk away with a thought in ur head B4 u totally forget about it in the parking lot.
DAMN! They don't make 'em like that anymore (2 my knowledege). I might rent it this weekend just 4 the heck of it.
Mistermaxxx, props 2 U, DavidEye, and B915 - you guys are always resurfacing the memories. PEACE, brothas.
