has anyone heard the group SWITCH?

I heard a song by them, I don't have a clue if they are still a group or not, but they sounded so PRINCE late 70s.....

The song was called "I call your name"

Anyways, just wanted to share this and also if anyone knows if they get their inspiration from our man or if it was maybe the other way around??? eek

Neither. Prince and Switch just happend to come along around the same time.

The group was discovered by Jermaine Jackson. The guys from Switch, Bobby and Tommy DeBarge are brothers to El, Randy, Bunny, Mark and James DeBarge (Janet Jackson's ex-husband) of the R&B group DeBarge (biggest songs include "I Like It", "Time Will Reveal", and "All This Love".

Released in late 1980,this is my favorite Switch album.Contains the hit "Love Over And Over Again",which is also my favorite song by them. Also features some great uptempo jams like "Believe In Yourself" and "Just Imagine",plus a smooth slow jam "You And I".

That really is a good album. Gotta give it up for the title track as well. For me, its a toss-up between This is My Dream and Switch 2.

Man, these albums take me back!!!!!

Incidentally, the group was called Switch because most of the guys were multi-instrumentalists, and would often all switch instruments while onstage, in the middle of playing! At first, they all hated the name, but they never got around to coming up with a better one, so it stuck, for better or worse...

Other members included lead-vocalist Philip Ingram and multi-instrumentalist Gregory Williams .
I still have to check their last album on Total Experience ( the label from Lonnie simmons ) . It's called " Am I Still Your Boyfriend " and was released in 1984 .
From liner-notes i remember that producer/writer/musician Attala Zane Giles had some input in some part of the Switch-era .
Attala also did a project with Philip Ingram called DECO and was released in 1983 on Q-West .

Lovely.

Without You in My Life!!!! Philip Ingram!

Also some kids may not know that Raheim DeVaughn sampled the hell out of Switch's My Friend in the Sky on the Love Experience.
We all want the stuff that's found in our wildest dreams.
